Malware
« on: August 03, 2015, 06:33:12 am »
I recently downloaded a new antivirus, Avast.  It is the free version.  However, it is frequently indicating that it is blocking malware in some of the videos.  Fusion is the only site where it is doing this repeatedly.  This is worrisome.  What is happening with your antivirus and what are you finding?
If this is so, Fusion, you need to clean this up!!!

I have a macbook and only have whatever comes with my computer and software. I have never tried to install additional anti-virus programs.

I recently ended up with an adware problem on both safari and google chrome. I could not use either browsers and had to use firefox. Fortunately, I was able to do a search and learned what need to be done to correct the problem. I do not know how I got adware. I remember that I got a pop up while I was on one of my sites. It looked legit and I clicked on. Now, I think that it was a trojan and I unlocked the adware.

I am on many sites like Fusion cash so I do not know which site or offer I was on when I got the pop up.

Yes, my AVAST! is telling me the same thing, but it's usually on the "Vidyspot" videos because it opens 2 pages.  One with ADS and the other for the video.  It's the AD page that I'm getting the warning about.  It's nothing to worry about.  AVAST! is blocking it, so you can go about your business.

I thought about trying Avast but wasn't sure how it worked.

Avast has been great.  I had used Norton for years (paying).  A few years back when I had a desktop hard drive die and a new on installed.  The computer geek who did it had loaded Avast! (free) on it.  I did some research on it (beside his recommendation) and the reviews were high. So I gave it a try while I let Norton run out on my laptop.  I was impressed.  I now use it on all.

I have also used Avast on my Vista Desktop.   The free version works great.
