That kind of thing happened to me at the bank the other day.  Everyone is waiting in line while this lady stands at the counter and talks to a fiend.  Very annoying.

I guess I'm an odd person. I leave my phone at home when I go shopping.
I take a list and get what I need and when I get to the checkout, I talk to the cashier.
She is a human being, and worth my attention.

If I leave home I take my phone with me.  You never know when you may need to call for help or something.

It is really annoying. This one guy cut me off while he is speeding thru the lanes on the freeway and he was on his phone. They have Bluetooth for a reason now days.

What did we do before we had phones that went everywhere with us?

We talked to people, we noticed the world around us, and if we got into trouble, there was always someone around willing to help.

If I was traveling long distance, I would carry the phone.
But around town? No. I want to stay connected to people, not technology.

@Paints - The world we use to know has changed.  It is not safe for a woman to accept help from a random stranger on the side of the road.  She is more likely to be raped and killed than helped.  I like knowing I can call for help if something happens.

Some people think they are just so important or they want others to think they are. I my self find it very rude.  I do not like them at the dinner table, nor do I find it amuzing that when I am talking to someone they are looking down at their phone texting or reading a text. they could at least excuse them selves. Guess I am old fashioned.

Waiting for them to write a check for one or two small items is just as bad or worse but the cell phone, headphone, ipad thing is getting worse everywhere and more dangerous

I know what you mean. My girlfriend does that sometimes and I always yell at her. Its like her phone is glued to her ear.

my phone goes with me when I leave the house.  but i don't talk or txt  on it unless someone calls me or sends me a txt. i went to the store the other day,,,,,,,,,  a lady and I sort of followed each other around it seemed,  she was on  her phone when she walked in the store,,,,,,,,  all the time getting her groceries,,,,,  through the checkout line and by the time she left the store she got in her van and left still talking on her phone!!!!!!  we were both in the store at least a half hour.  Rude !!

I worked at a grocery store from age 16-19, and whenever someone would come up to the register on the phone, I wouldn't say a word to him/her.
I would do my job, but I'd be silent and let them carry on with the conversation because apparently it's more important than being a decent human being and giving your cashier any sort of acknowledgement.

When I was finished scanning everything, I'd stand there and wait for them to decide to pay.
I wouldn't tell them "have a nice day" or "thanks for shopping with us" or anything when we were finished...I'd just move to the next customer and greet them instead.

And then they go complain on you saying you were rude.  Smh.

Honestly, I never got a complaint about being rude.
They were too focused on their phone call to even notice that I didn't say a word to them.

I understand what you're saying, Countygirl, but I refuse to live my life in fear of what "might" happen.
There are more good people than bad in the world.
