My deceased husband's birthday is/was July 3rd so we honor him and do fireworks.  Have good food and treats  Spend time with family, etc.

We stay at home. One of our dogs is terrified of fireworks so there's no way we could leave her alone. The other one seems to be following suit as well.

We used to have very large parties of 50 or more people on the top of the hill on our property.   The only way to get up there was 4x4 or walk and it was steep. Hubs built a very large grill with a smaller side grill for clam pots and corn pots (kids only liked "boiled corn). We used oak and cherry woods instead of charcoal. We would grill dogs, burgers, sausage, bake 'taters, clams, and if we had any ribs or bear, we'd do that too...along with potato and  macaroni salads, cole slaw, pickles, etc. Pretzels, chips were also part of it. At dusk, the boys would set up fireworks. The neighbors (only 3 families) would come to our party then invite their friends and relatives to come to their place around dusk to sit outside and watch our fireworks.

Now that we're both on SS, we don't do it anymore for 2 reason: cost and the hill. Now everyone goes to other parties and we stay home and enjoy the boring but quiet day.

I might BBQ with family this year, but I probably won't be seeing any fireworks. I'm anticipated to work into July 4th and probably want to get to bed early. If other family insist, then I will go otherwise.

We celebrate the 4th different ways, but through the years we've almost always been to a fireworks display.  This year we are going to our lake house.  I'm hoping our son and his family can join us.  We don't usually shoot our own fireworks, but there's almost always some to see in the distance if you just look to the sky.

I'll probably have to work. I haven't been able to do anything for the Fourth of July for about the last 12 years because I always end up having to work. :(
