Questions are not subjects.
« on: June 21, 2015, 04:12:13 pm »
When will people on here LEARN that a question is not a subject especially giving choices ::)  It has the word Subject on the left side of the box, not Question.  Learn how to phrase your question as a subject.
Forums are for discussions of topics, questions are for debates.  It is not to say you can't have questions in the replies but the idea is to discuss a SUBJECT!  Thank you.  I know I just talked to a wall. 8)

The use of thoughtful or provocative questions can be a means of introducing subjects.  Forum subjects, or threads, are open to comment, discussion, and/or debate.  That's what its about!

If you are that unhappy with these threads then WHY are you here?  Yes, a question is appropriate to put in the "subject" field.  That little box is for putting the topic of the thread.

There are threads that I click on, roll my eyes, and move on, but I have never felt the need to start a thread with a rant about threads I don't like.  I just don't post in those.

I have seen may questions that are not "thought provoking" but people asking for advice on how to handle some situation or what to do about something.  And you are right.  That's what these "OFF TOPIC" forums are about.  A place to discuss anything not FC related.

Nothing wrong with a question as a topic kinda ridiculous to even say questions are not subjects when they clearly are. If you don't like a question topic then don't read the post and if you can't deal with that then maybe seek help. (having an issue with how someone talks is obsessive to begin with and not healthy)

First of all... A question is.. A subject or point that is under discussion or open to controversy...
Let's back that a minute...  a subject for discussion...

Does that not clearly state that a question is indeed.. a subject.. or point....

While a Debate is also.. A Discussion or an Argument.. It is often 2 sided.. as it is mainly the  discussion of opposing points..

Secondly... We should not get this narrow-minded.. on a forum non the less about how people go about typing, and or discussion certain subjects.. Or how they word  or phrase their subjects.. as it is their post to make and not yours... If you have a problem with how people "phrase their subjects" maybe you should stick to reading the dictionary...Or don't read any posts that have a question and that will solve all of your problems in one stop..Do you not agree?

I think it is ok to use a question to start a topic / subject, but not all questions are the same... For example, if you ask "Is the country headed in the right direction?", the question is open-ended enough that it invokes more well thought-out responses and a good discussion of the topic. However with questions like "Do you like chocolate or vanilla?", people can respond with just a one-word answer so there tends to not be any real discussion of the topic. I also notice that sometimes people (esp. newbies) will post a question about FC in the Off-Topic section instead of posting in the correct section of the forums. But you'll see this too inside the Debate and Discuss section where sometimes the vanilla vs. chocolate type of questions will be posted.

WOW! I have a question. Are you a little ill over something that really doesn't matter?

Until FC decides that asking a question in the subject is not appropriate I will continue to "ask" questions in the subject line or respond to questions asked in a subject line.   Relax, all of this is to help each other earn some money.   Is it really that disturbing to you that someone posts a question in the subject line?

I don't see what the big deal is asking a question. Asking a question is a topic of discussion. I find the most people ask questions for the subjects on other forums I'm on. I mean you can always choose to ignore them.

I agree with the consensus here.  This forum is NOT a formal, regulated, college-level debate competition.  It's an informal, non-excluding place to converse.  We won't even exclude you from taking part.  ;)
