I would try out cardio bikes, elliptical, or threadmills in the gym. Put on some music or watch a tv program in the gym to help you forget the continuous movement. Also try not to overexert yourself, doing small-medium increments everyday and work up from there

Get some cheap exercise equipment and start at home. Always start slow. Fuel your body.

You have to run 3/4 of a mile for your job?  One time?  Every day?  How long do you have to work up to it?  Start by walking and walk a little faster every day.

Do sprints, do a light jog (or fast walk) for x amount of distance, then sprint (run fast) for a short distance, then back to light jog, then sprint, etc...  That will increase your running endurance over time.  ALSO, after you train, eat protein or drink protein powder (soy or whey) immediately after... it will help your muscles repair & grow stronger...

Running on treadmills is not the same as running out in the world, so make sure you hit the outdoors as much as possible.

I would love a job where I have to run 3/4 of a mile.    I used to run marathons & still run almost daily.   I started off being the worst runner on the planet, so there is hope for everyone :)

Running burns a lot of calories.  Start out slow by jogging and slowly increase your speed.

I started running about 10 years ago. When I was younger I could not run at all - had a very low cardio base. Just like any other form of activity, take it easy in the beginning. In the grand scheme of things 3/4 of a mile is not that far but if you are beginning with a low fitness base, take your time and build up to that. The rule of thumb is not to increase mileage by more than 10% a week. However, if 3/4 of a mile is your ultimate goal, try to run 3 times a week, easy pace, for as long as you can and increase maybe a minute or 30 seconds each time.

Good luck!

Try walking first and work your way to a light jog and so on. My son and I took a long walk yesterday and I think we will be doing more of those it was nice. Sort of like a nature walk we used to do when he was about 7.

I would also advice you to do cardio bikes or treadmills, so you can get use to it.

I agree with everyone else too. Build your self up to it by doing cardio. Jumping Jacks, jump rope, bike rides, etc. I like running but struggle with it because I have asthma.

You definitely should prepare yourself physically before you start running.  If you start out cold you could injure yourself.
