I don't get telemarketing calls.  If I don't know the number I don't answer the phone.

I usually don't answer the phone period if I do not know the number.  I try not to be mean unless I have specifically told THEM to not call me and reminded them I am on the DO NOT HARASS list.  On my job I have to ask every customer for a phone number. If I get caught not doing so I get in trouble.  And we have idiots who will complain and say "she didn't ask me for my phone number".  But at least half of the customers smart off to me.  It's company policy.  Yell at corporate not a person just doing their job.  Most of the time I just hang up the phone if I answer and that is what it is.  But 90% of the time it is a pre-recorded call asking me to wait for the next available operator.  Yeah, I will do that.

I'm on a "do not call" list.  If they call anyway, I take down their name & number and let them know if they call back then they'll be reported.  That usually ends it.

At work though, the same ones call EVERY day!  They've been told "not interested", "don't call us, we'll call you if we need anything", etc.  They've been told to remove us from their calling list, apparently that's only effective for one day.

So if they call and I get the phone, I just tell them to "please hold while I get whoever they are calling for" and I place the phone down with them "holding".  They can see how they like their time wasted after wasting mine.

I too screen all my calls. If they are from a number I don't recognize, which about 90 percent of them are, I just don't answer. I have some calls that I get practically every day for months on end.

How do you get them to give you a name and number?  When I start asking for that info they hang up on me.  All I have is a cell phone and I am not going to do the terminal hold.  When I had a landline I done that a couple of times.  Where I use to work we had sales people, which is not really the same as telemarketing, that called every day.  No matter how much we told them we would never do business with them again...they still called.

I have got a couple that were calls I needed to answer but they leave a message and I call them right back.

If I don't know the number, I don't answer the phone.  If it's important, they can leave a voicemail.

I usually don't answer a number I don't recognize if they really want to talk to me they will leave a detailed message. If I do decide to answer I let them go on and on and let my 16 mo old "talk" to them they eventually hang up lol

I don't answer numbers I don't have programmed in my phone. They can leave a message and I will decide whether to call back or note. I am also on the do not call list.

I don't say much, but if they keep calling and making a nuisance of themselves, I'll pick up the phone, cup my hand around the receiver and scream as loud as I can in to it.  That usually puts a stop to it.  >:)

If I don't know the number I usually don't answer the phone either.  I know it's their job, and at least they are working and not collecting, but what I don't understand is what good is the do not call number suppose to do?  I am on it for my cell and landline and get calls on both.

I won't answer the phone if it's a number I don't recognize. I've had to deal with too many telemarketers. If it's a call from someone important and I'm not available they leave a message.
