computer updates
« on: May 13, 2015, 09:08:45 am »
When I see the Windows updates pop up on my computer, I look through them and choose the important ones.
I find that I don't need them all.

I usually don't get that lucky - seems the "updates" are always happening when I'm not on my computer!!

The Windows OS has to have those updates (critical and important).  I also like to keep my drivers for things like video, audio, network, chipsets, BIOS, etc., updated.  A lot of people forget about updating drivers such as these, even when they're having problems.

I have had problems with the last few Windows downloads to download properly.  I have stopped them temporarily.
Have a wonderful day!

I agree. If you updated everything all the time you'd always be Doing updates. Very frustrating!

I guess I should be more choosey. I update all of my updates. I have found that some programs want the latest and greatest versions. This way things work when you are using that program. I the to install things to use something else. BMaston12

I have the settings set to automatic updates (Windows) set to a time when I'm usually not on-line.  Haven't had any problems with updates for a long time...

Every time it updates It becomes even slower and slower. I don't know why the updates. I wish it will stay the same way but I am not an expert when it comes to technologies. Sometimes it just automatically update when you shut down.

How do you know which ones you need? I just download all the ones they say are important. But it seems like most of the time my computer runs slower after I get the updates.

I'm not good about updating the drivers unless my computer reminds me.  I just don't understand all the parts of the system  :'(
