Landlines
« on: April 17, 2015, 06:59:59 am »
Do any of you still have a landline phone? I know that a lot of people don't use them anymore. I wish I could afford to have a landline, but my cell phone bill is high enough.

I don't have a landline only an old cell  phone, but my friend has a computer based "magic Jack' phone as  his landline, and although the price has gone up, he says is only $35 a year, and now you do not have to have the computer..so I think I will get it that, because if I wanna use my cell phone at home, I have to go stand by the street to get a signal. or sit on the toilet at midnight to get a signal on the canal side of the house...oh the joys of living in   florida on a budget!!   :-\

Yes we have a landline plus cell phones.  Our security system works off of our landline.

You can get a land line for around $15 a month if you don't get anything extra on it.  I turned my off several years ago.  Nobody ever called me on it and I kept it switched to my cell any way so I figure just turn off the landline and use strictly a cell.

No I dont have one, havent in 15 years. I think they are pretty cheap these days, way less than cell phones ($20).

We still sorta have a landline.  We had AT&T for our landline for over 40 years but the price just kept going up so we switched to Straight Talk.  We kept our phone number and it only costs $15 (plus tax) a month for unlimited use.  After using them for a few months I went ahead and set it up to draft our checking account so that is really convenient.  I did realize after a month or so that it is actually thru Verizon but we've been very satisfied with it.  We both have cell phones but we just hate to give up on the telephone number we've had for over 40 years lol

We took out our original land line and went to a Verizon bundle where we got to keep our old phone number and go through Verizon to make calls.  I don't really understand it, but it saved us about $70 a month. My husband and I also have iPhones on the plan.  It was a good deal.

I have a landline phone I can't always afford minutes on a cell phone.  I get a discount on my house phone, there are several other discounts such as Food Stamps, Medicaid, or any kind of Social Security. So it makes my bill about $ 12.00

We still have a landline. My mom won't use a cell phone. I've got one though.

We no longer have a landline.  Only calls we got on it were from marketers.

We have our cell phones, which do cost more, but are so convenient that I would be lost without the cell phone.
