Fight of the century?
« on: March 11, 2015, 10:51:46 pm »
Is that the proper term to designate the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight? It's crazy that tickets for the fight are a minimum of like $1750 (and boxing fights in general are pricey). Who really enjoys boxing? Predictions?

I like boxing but I would never consider paying that much to watch it, that is what TV is for

After Evander Holyfield retired, I lost interest in boxing.

Personally, I think the majority of judges prefer a come forward, aggressive kind of fighter.I just wonder what kind of cheap stunt Floyd will play like he did in the Maidana fight accusing Maidana of biting him just to cover up his own dirty trick of smothering Maidana (covering his nose and mouth) when ever he had Maidana's head pressed down. No matter how many wins he gets or how much money he ends up wig, he will always be Floyd "Cheap Shot" Mayweather after his stunt with Ortiz. Yes! I know a boxer is always supposed to protect himself but Ortiz was trying to e a sportsman and was attempting to apologize further for his unsportsmanlike like conduct and Mayweather had to throw 2 punches to get him down - never even knocked him out. Gotta throw heavier than that against Manny.

The boxers are receiving a big paycheck that's why the tickets are so high.

I can't imagine paying anything close to that for a ticket to any kind of event.  I have heard this is supposed to be a great fight...but boxing just isn't as popular anymore.  I am more of a UFC guy.

I never liked to watch boxing.  I just don't see the thrill of watching people beat on each other.  I never understood how someone would want someone else to punch around on them.
Have a wonderful day!

I really haven't been into boxing much for a long time, seems like there are no big name fighters out there anymore.

I think that any sporting event that charges more than forty dollars is charging forty dollars too much. Superbowl tickets costing more than one thousand dollars is just the start. Throw in another five hundred for a flight to see the event. two hundred dollars to get a hotel room. one hundred dollars for food and drinks at the event. And your ticket price gets you the privilege of sitting up in the nose bleeds where the only good view is the scantron. I personal like sitting at home and watching from my couch...always have a good view and no lines at my refrigerator. With the two thousand dollars I just saved by not buying overpriced tickets I can reinvest the difference and end up having more money than most of these professional athletes will have five years after they retire.

Fights happen everywhere. And some of them are not for only $1750. In courtrooms, schools, street corners and unfortunately, even at home between families and friends!
