A fun activity that use to be popular when I was a teenager, do people still roller skate these days?

There still a Roller Skating Rink in the town next to us.  It has been open since 1974.

We used to go there for elementary school trips.

It is fun!

I don't think kids roller skate much anymore.  More interested in computers or texting.

I go skating sometimes.  Decided to go last Friday, and it was overrun with kids and teens, so they do still go skating.  It was a reminder to me to only go on 70s/80s night when it's an older and smaller crowd.

I actually am surprised that the roller skate rink in our town had closed many years ago... Considering how popular ice skating is, I'd just have thought that kids would want to roller skate / roller blade in the summer. But I guess not... I'm also surprised that while I understand roller blades out-competing roller skates, I never understood why roller blades seemed to oust the roller rinks too... Perhaps it was more just a coincidence, but it seemed like when blades became popular, the roller rinks started to disappear. I liken it to snow boards becoming more popular than skiing, but that's where the similarity ends for while the ski market was hit hard by snow boards, the ski slopes just changed some of their trails to accommodate the boarders; never understood why roller rinks didn't do the same...

I haven't been in probably 10 years or so but I used to really love it. Before I discovered bars and clubs it was the hangout spot for me and my girls.

Yes, I think people still do. Just not nearly as much as they did years ago. I used to skate a lot, but I haven't in something like 12 years. I just couldn't do it anymore so I had to stop. It got too hard on my knees and my back. I wish I still could though because it would be fun to spend a few hours on a nice day skating like I did when I was a kid.

I used to go skating every weekend when I was 11 and 12. It was the thing to do. And then when I got into 8th grade we all met up at the movie theatre.  Friday movie night. Those were fun years.

I don't roller skate. I think that mostly teens hang at the one closest to me.

There are several  rinks in my area.  They have different theme nights, so every age seems to go.  The family night are fun with some of every age and every skill level.

I think everyone just rollerblades if they do it know, but I haven't seen anywhere near as many as I used to.
