Pick Your Own
« on: December 08, 2014, 06:19:19 am »
Do you think it's OK to let my wife pick her own Christmas gift and not even wrap it, just start using it right away?

Should I get her another one for the tree and not tell her?

I think she can pick it out, but you should purchase it, wrap it and make her wait until Christmas.
And another gift under the tree would be nice. People like to open gifts on Christmas.

I experienced something similar to that and see nothing wrong in doing so. During my teen years, my mother allowed me to pick out my gift, bought it, and there was no wrapping (no point in that). I also didn't have to wait until Christmas to use it.

Yes it's perfectly fine.  It's not like she's 6 years old and still believes in Santa.

If it's something she needs/wants right away, I think it would be ok to give it to her now.
I'd still wrap it, though, if it's a present.
And it would be really nice to get something else for under the tree.
Even if it's something small, having something to open on Christmas is special.

If it's something she needs now, let her have it.  If not, make her wait until Christmas.  Another gift, no matter how small, would be nice for her to open Christmas day.

Seems fine to me.  I was out shopping with my mom and sister the other day, and my sister saw a jacket she liked and my mom got it for her as an early present.  As others are saying, if you wanted to get something small just for her to have something on Christmas, then that'd be nice, but not necessary.

Yes, it's okay. It's what she wants, so I think you should respect her wishes. But it might be a nice surprise to also buy her a second gift and not let her know. But, you know her better than we do! :) Happy Holidays!

I agree.  If it could help her create Christmas, like a kitchen appliance to help make goodies easier, then why not.  A surprise under the tree would be fun and a great gesture.  :present:

I think it is fine that she picked out her giftand didnt wrap if she really needed it but I like the surprise my family and friends with a little something for christmas so I would get her a little something and have it wrapped under the tree for her. :peace: :santa: :santa: :santa:

I like to be surprised, so I think I would give a list of things I would like to have and let them pick it out, wrap it, and put it under the tree.

I don't see anything wrong with letting her pick her own out.  If you're like my hubby and myself we've been married so long that we don't have to have gifts to prove we love each other.  But I would put it under the tree until christmas so she has something to unwrap.
