gift cards
« on: November 24, 2014, 09:07:26 am »
do you use the option of giving a gift card for a special occasion?
it saves you the heartache of the gift you picked out for someone being rejected.
Also, there are benefits because if you wrote a check, you don't have to wait 3 to 6 months for your check to clear.
I like to surprise people and give a gift on a regular day, not the birthday or anniversary or whatever. I am liking the element of surprise the older I get. I like to be surprised.

I think you're right on a number of points~good for the holidays. I used to feel guilty about them as gifts like I didn't put enough thought into them!

I also buy gift cards and use them to shop during the holidays. Safer than using your debit card all over.

I was just thinking about this. I wanted to do mostly gift cards this year, but sometimes it feels impersonal.

I like giving gift cards.  Takes the hassle of picking out something that they may not like. This way they can buy whatever they want and so convenient.

I give alot of gift cards at holidays.  We will also get them something else, but most people really do like getting gift cards, especially if you know where they really like going.  It makes your job easier and saves them money.

When I don't know what to get a person I usually give them a gift card to the store they mostly shop at.

The power of a gift card is an incredible thing.  I know first hand when I receive one from virtually anywhere I feel so blessed.  Relief overwhelms me knowing that I don't have to scrounge for basics ie: toilette paper, dish soap etc.  The best gift cards are the practical ones.  I generally don't give but a few cents in the offering plate at church.  If I did I too would utilize gift cards more so than though indulging gifts.

I usually give gift cards to the 20-30 year olds in the family, especially those who live further away and don't come home for CHristmas.  They seem to like them.
