I see several people listed religious reasons, which is fine if you believe that way. I don't really disagree but am more inclined to argue that you shouldnt do anything permanent at that age because consequences arent generally well thought out and can be far reaching.

Do you think it's ok for underage children to tatoos or piercings? Not the ear.
   arent those illegal to get?

I think they mean with a parent's consent. As long as the child's parent signs off on it, it's allowed. There are a lot of teenagers with tattoos and piercings. They wouldn't have been able to get them without a parent's consent.

I think that tattoos on children that are underage sets their future path and success is rarely seen on that path.  I think that tattoos and piercings are a scream for attention unless they are devoted to something that someone feels very strongly about.  Some people feel compelled to get tattoos to show their allegiance to God, country and family...teenagers generally do not fall into this category. I feel  that this could be expressed in more positive ways. My daughter played soccer against another team, when she was twelve, and one of the teenagers had a cross tattooed over her entire back. Wasn't too keen on that. I wouldn't let my wife get my daughter's ear pierce when she was a baby. I think that you need to be able to ask for our ears to be pierced-it shouldn't be someone else's choice.

I'm not opposed to tattoos or body piercing as long as it doesn't get too extreme.  As for the under-aged, probably not a wise idea.  People have spent a lot of money and suffered a lot of pain having tattoos removed they got when they were younger.

I don't like tattoos or piercings these days. The only piercings should be in your ears. That's my belief. I would never tattoo any part of me.

Tattoos absolutely fascinate me and I ask people what they mean or why they got them and the stories behind them are fun to hear. Not a good look for a really young person though. Just my opinion.

I absolutely cringe when I see little babies with pierced ears. Who's that for?  :-X  Just imagine how the baby cried when it happened while mom is trying to hold her/him still.

Seriously? Who does that to their little baby?

Absolutely not. Under 18 isn't old enough to make a decision that permanent. An earring hole can always close up, tattoos are forever.

I got my first tattoo when I was 17, however. All my tattoos can be covered. very easily, unless im at the pool/beach. I think tattoos are ok, if you are smart about them. If you look like a coloring book, and you cant see skin. then no, that probably wasnt smart and that could affect you in the future. But if you think about long term I think your fine. No with underage tattoos, i think it depends how underage. I was 2 months away from being 18 when i got mine and my mom and I got little tiny matching ones on our feet lol when we were in vacation. But I think it depends on how much underage your age your talking about, as well as if they have mom and dads approval.

I think if a biker baby wants to get a tattoo so that he feels comfortable when he goes to a roadhouse, he should be able to  ;D

no.  i have no problem with tattoos, have several myself.  but i was in my 30s when i got my first one.  underage kids havent lived long enough to have enough experience to know for sure what they will want years down the road and tattoos are extremely hard to get rid of once you have them.

I don't think any child under the age  of 18 should get tattoos or piercings (with the exception of ear-piercing FOR GIRLS only).  I believe any reputable tattoo parlor or piercing parlor would only do  such things on a child if the parent were there giving  permission.

Hmm,... i am sorry, i never seen a good thing of having tattoo. Even the cutest or the most beautiful one.
Well seeing other people having tattoo may be okay, not me or my family.

So for the kids, piercing only ears, i am such an old fashion :)
