Weight Los
« on: July 28, 2009, 02:28:15 pm »
So, today I heard someone say that overweight people should stop complaining and just loose the weight. She said it's their own fault only because they are too lazy and will not exercise. I am curious to know what you think about her comment.

It's not always someone that is over weight by choice. Or even doesn't want to do anything about it. Some people just can't lose it, others try hard but don't see much improvement either. I don't really want to say something direct but in my opinion, it's all about what you want. If you're fat but just complain about it, do something about it. If you hate that so much people are fat and etc... Do something about it. Some people are just regularly big, so they can't just be blame for it. Everyone is different, some people just choose not to do anything about it.

Almost all the time they can loss the weight if the want. It is a very hard road to travel but can be done.
There have been quite a few people with diabeates that have lost weight and doing so helped their diabeates go into submission.
They need to realize that there weight has a huge effect on there health when they get older. Most of the people that try and don't suceed just arn't doing it right or might be the few that just can't.

If they are complaining about their own weight then I think they should do something about. There is almost always a solution that will help.

Although some people are, indeed, like that, I believe the majority have the ability to lose weight. However, with the lack of dedication and motivation, most people give up in the end. I'm not urging everyone to go out there and run a few miles, but minor changes like having less soda can have a huge impact as well.

I believe that some are over weight and that isn't their fault necessarily.  I do, however, believe that majority of the obese population can help that.  They chose the foods they eat and all, and then many complain that they "can't" exercise for medical reasons??  What?? That makes no sense.  I found a site I joined called Sparkpeople where they help you lose weight.  It's free and you get some awesome and helpful tips and recipes.  There is no reason any to complain they can't do it, when there are very helpful resources to help us now.  It can be hard, trust me, I'm not a thin person either, but I still try and include healthy eating habits.  My habits WILL affect my children and I'm responsible for teaching them right.

overweight people need to put in (obviously) a much greater effort to lose weight than someone who just wants to lose a good 5 - 10 pounds (like me). diet and exercise people, that's all there is to it. i've lost 5 pounds this summer just by doing that so 5 pounds to go!!!!

90% of weight loss is diet. If you don't have your food intake under control, you won't lose weight. Check out www.thedailyplate.com it'll help you track calories and weight

I honestly don't think anyone has the right to comment on how and why a person should loose weight. Fact of the matter is unless you get to know the person you will never know if they have a more serious problem. Simple exercise and watch of food intake might not help all. I dont like some of these threads on here. People should just be and let be. Unless you are planning on helping someone in this nature you should just leave it alone.

It's none of my business how much someone weighs. It's easy to say an overweight person should lose weight when you yourself are thin and have never had a weight problem. We all live in glass houses, you know?

It depends really If they are obese and it is not due to a medical issue then yes it is considered their own doing. If it is a child then its the parents fault not theirs. I believe due to the way of the convenience living here that has alot to do with it too.
instead of getting out of the car and going into the CVS , bank or dry cleaning store its more convenient to drive through even if it means getting out of the car for 5 minutes and actually walking inside

I am speaking from personal experience.  I am overweight and have tried lots of ways to lose the excess weight.  Most of the time
I would lose about 10 lbs then nothin.  I'd give up.  My metabolism is slower than others.  But I was the one who chose to give up.  I
never got serious enough to follow through.  It is easier to just stay the way you are.  My husband must love me dearly cause he
always says, Im beautiful.  So he didnt help any, no encouragement to lose the weight either.  I couldnt take it any longer and in the
Middle of August I made a choice to lose it.  I cant stand the way I look.  So far, I have lost 24 lbs.  I havent given up. I am now at my lowest weight in over 15 years.  I still have a long way to go, but I am determined to get there.  I have had only a few sips of soda, since
I started and almost no junk food.  Im human, I have weaknesses but I am winning that battle more than Im losing it.  If there is no
medical reason for the person who is overweight, then it is their choice to be that way, or their lack of will to change.  This was me,
but no more.

It is partially their fault unless a medical condition is present and is making them overweight or unable to exercise. But usually it is a matter of being too lazy. I mean if they had someone to push them and guide them along the way im pretty sure then they will be motivated to lose weight.
