Yes. That is exactly my opinion. Now it is like a law, so you can't fight it. The only way not to get new ones every year is to not go to the eye doctor. Thwy have got ya! Mine glasses are usually so scratched by the 2nd year, I have no choice but to go.

Being a diabetic, I'm supposed to get my eyes checked every year regardless of whether my prescription has changed. Diabetics run the risk of getting something like a mini stroke in the eye's blood vessels, and can lead to blindness if not treated. So I usually go at least for an eye exam, and possibly get new glasses if need be. Which is exactly what I'll be doing this weekend... Not only for my yearly exam, but also because my dog loves to wrestle with me and swiping my glasses off. So now my current set has a few repair issues to deal with (and I'll probably just get a new pair).

Yes, that's so you have to go back to the doctor for another exam - more $$$ for the doctors.  My daughter has used an online site that was running specials on eyeglasses.   She was able to use the prescription information from her last eye exam that was over a year old.  It did not require the prescription to be sent in nor did it ask for a date of the exam.  I was going to order a couple of extra pairs but by the time I got around to ordering them, the special was over and I didn't want to pay the full price for them even though they were cheaper than I could get locally.

I'm thinking its got something to do with our eyes changing. The past 3 times I got my daughter's eyes checked for glasses the prescription changed each time. But it is a hassle. They should allow the prescriptions to last a little longer once we reach a certain age maybe.  Before we start to get to an older age when eyesight starts to change again.

I'm not sure why we have to do it. Maybe because medicine is only good for one year.

o, i never think "bad" side of it. I thought it is a  good one to have new glasses every year

Maybe for some people, but I think it's best to check to make sure your vision hasn't deteriorated or if there's other health issues going on.

My prescription changes frequently. I've had to get new glasses every two or three years because I could no longer see out of my old ones. The last time I had to get new glasses was after 1 1/2 years. The time between needing new glasses is getting shorter.

It's a law.  A stupid law as far as I'm concerned.  I pay enough every year to see an eye doctor and then have to order my contact lenses.  I really feel for those who wear eyeglasses because the cost is absolutely ridiculous!  I'll wear my contacts 'til the day I die, LOL.

I would say yes that is why - now I have other medical conditions associated with my eyes so I can see why I would need to go annually but otherwise when it was just getting an eye exam for potential new glasses I didn't go every year.

Yes, me I have to change my eye glasses every year and cant find any solution for that. Good have an insurance.

I always buy my glasses at eyebuydirect.com which are really cheap, and I don't always get a new rx when I want new glasses, they just ask me to fill in my rx info. I have used my rx that was almost 2 years old in the past because I didnt feel I needed a new one.

If my eyes don't change,I usually just hang on to the lenses, but everything seems to be a big money making racket.

Many years ago, my eye doctor was going to write a prescription for me for new glasses.  For some reason, his assistant told me (out of earshot of the doctor), that I didn't really need glasses.  All I needed was reading glasses I could buy over the counter.  That was more than 30 years ago.  I still have my eyes tested, and my new doctor has never said I need prescription glasses.
