Cell phone addiction
« on: November 07, 2014, 11:15:42 am »
Have you ever sat in the waiting room at your doctors
office and watched what people are doing, just about everyone is looking at
their cell phone, either talking, working or playing games.

We are so addicted to our phones.

Well if your sitting in a waiting room.. and your not bothering anyone.. Then i don't see a problem.. I don't think that actually mean's your addicted but rather bored... All you do there anyways is either sit and stare at the walls while you wait for them to call your name..  or read a magazine... I would rather be doing something i enjoy to make the time go faster rather than sitting there staring at the walls myself... I don't really like to read... Not much of a reader these days.. :)

I couldn't agree with you more.  I often joke with my kids that in 20 years when there generation is asked what they remember from there childhoods they're response will be "the palm of my hand." They do have a smart phone however they aren't allowed to go online for anything or use apps.  The can make calls and text till 9:30 p.m. Sun-Thurs and 11:30 p.m. on Friday and Sat.  The don't think it's fair but hey they can have fair when the are 18 paying for there own phones right.

I have a regular cell phone. Not a smart phone. Guess I am old fashioned. But I feel like that is all it should be used for is a phone. I was at Walmart the other day and this young woman came tearing around the corner like she was on fire and ran right into me.  or rather my cart.  I was bent over getting some items I needed. She was texting on her phone and not watching where she was going. I felt like slapping her. I  feel like this younger generation has no respect all .

We've turned into a culture where we have to be stimulated every single minute of the day. We need to just be. Of course it's not as easy to do, but what in life is.  ;)

Just because you are using your phone in a waiting room does not mean you are "addicted" to it.  If they were reading a book or looking at magazines - would you say they were "addicted" to that?  A lot of times people are engrossed in their phones so people will leave them alone.

Not me.  I often leave my cell phone home and when I get home I check to see if I have messages.  I don't like dealing with a cell phone when I leave home, but then, I'm kind of old school.

Have a great day!

I just got my first smartphone and it's exciting. I'm playing with it to see all it does. So far I'm just using a few apps and may try a few games.

Not me, I have a prepaid service from T-Mobile and I pay $3 a month minimum (30 call minutes or texts included, then 10 cents after that) and I haven't used the minimum yet. I get WiFi for free, so that's what I use most.

I have to admit I'm addicted...it comes in handy so much, especially considering that I have so many sickly people in my family.
