As some others have said, I think you need to take in to account the couple, and if they would like it.

When my husband and I got married, we were thrilled to get WalMart give cards, money, restaurant gift certificates, or anything really! We were just starting off with very few possessions and the WalMart and restaurant gift cards came in handy for groceries or a night out!
