Stuck in the Midwest

I have not been on a vacation or out of the Midwest for any other reason for over 4 years.  Where do you live and what is the longest you have been in your geographic area without traveling to another geographic area?

I am planning a vacation hopefully next year to either Tampa, New Orleans or Myrtle Beach.

I Have not been on vacation since I was a kid living with my parents.  We have lived here in Missouri for 23 years and really haven't left this area or out of state unless it was to Arkansas because we live on the border of Arkansas.  I was never able to take my son on a vacation and now he is 23 years old.  I feel bad but I was a single mother at that time and I worked all the time but when I took vacation I needed that money to pay the bills so we just did things around here.
