I got my flu shot yesterday and I do it every year. No flu in a decade or more because I do.

The people who do not vaccinate rely on herd immunity to protect them. If everyone stopped vaccinating, we would see breakouts of diseases we haven't seen in decades.

I am definitely pro-vaccines... Unfortunately we are starting to see many Americans that fear vaccines because of anecdotal evidence about vaccines causing autism even though there have been studies that show no relationship. They also tend to see the pharmaceutical companies developing these vaccines as being all-concerned with making money, even if what they develop causes more harm than good (as they believe). The best case those fearing vaccines was from a report in the medical journal Lancet, but it was later disproved as being fraudulent and the journal has since retracted that report (http://www.cbsnews.com/news/report-study-linking-vaccine-autism-fraudulent/). Unfortunately the fear mongering about vaccines has really taken hold, and has already lead to outbreaks from diseases that in the past children were vaccinated against (http://www.cbsnews.com/news/how-one-unvaccinated-child-sparked-minnesota-measles-outbreak/). It'll really get scary if we start seeing outbreaks of very serious diseases like polio because of people fearing vaccines.

There are some vaccines I agree with and others I don't.  If you think about it, some of the vaccines aren't even given anymore (for years now) - like Small Pox.  That's the vaccine that left a scar on your arm or leg.  You'll mostly see us older folks sporting that one.  You kids today get no such vaccine in the repertoire of childhood vaccinations.  One vaccine I urge my children NEVER to get is that Gardasil vaccine to prevent HPV (Human Papillomavirus).  I've read so much on this vaccine to know that it doesn't even come close to covering ALL the VARIATIONS of this virus, it DOES NOT prevent cervical cancer, and many young people of both sexes have died or have been maimed by this vaccine.

What I think we have to worry about right now is the influx of illegal aliens who are being allowed in to the USA with God knows what they're carrying.  If you read or listen to the news, I'm quite sure you've heard about that new sickness that seems to be affecting only children.  This new sickness just happens to coincide with the influx of illegals around the country.  What a surprise, huh?  I wouldn't be surprised if the Small Pox vaccine was brought back from the dead because of the insanity going on at our borders.

I think it is a very good thing to get vaccinated. There is turburqulious floating around out there and it is basicly caused by those who never got the shot. Both of my girls are up to date on theirs and I get the flu shot every year.

For the most part, vaccinations are safe for most people.

There's always gonna be that rare person who has a reaction. That's the case for just about everything in life. There are people who take Tylenol and end up getting a bad reaction or even dying because they were allergic to it. That doesn't mean Tylenol isn't safe for the majority of people, because it is. It's just that bad reactions can occur in some people.

I have always had my children vaccinated. My son was required to get the Tdap vaccination to prevent whooping cough this year. It is a requirement for all 7th graders. They cannot attend school without it. We had a health fair at my job this week where they were giving free flu shots. I have never gotten a flu shot and have never had the flu *knock on wood*.

Get a flu shot. They are well worth what you pay and you don't sick from the flu. I have gotten one or the past 10 years and can tell you they work. Who wants to be sick with the flu. Not me!

They are safe but not without risks, though these are rare. if it weren't for vaccines we would experience large numbers of terrible diseases such as polio.

All the hype about vaccines causing autism was the result of the practices of an unethical doctor trying to make a name for himself.

I think most of them are very important.  We are already seeing out breaks of serious viruses because people stopped vaccinating.  I personally don't think the flu vaccine is worthwhile, it only will possibly prevent 11 out of 90 strains.

Yes my son will have his Tdap next year before he enters the 7th grade. All of his shots are updated and this one coming up I have know about for a few years now. We do not do flu shots. I had my son take one when he was younger and he was so sick afterwards that I refuse to do that again. We have not had the flu either and thank goodness for that.
