Out to a formal dinner, or to the movies.

I favor a more formal dinner, but I wouldn't suggest movies as you do not spend much time looking at each other. Following dates later on can be more activity driven.

i agree dinner and a movie are always a safe bet --let her pick the movie --that will give you an idea of what she likes

I agree ... letting her pick the movie is a great idea.

Absolutely not a movie. There is no chance for communication at a movie. Try to think outside the box. Miniature golf and a picnic, bowling and champagne.... be creative.

I would take your out to a nice restaurant somewhere where you can get to know each other a movie just dosent allow you to have any conversation with a new person.

Where is the best place to take a woman out on the first date?

I think the person asking her out should inquire as to where she would like to go! :) I would appreciate if someone did that for me. I think picnics are a cute idea -- I was just having this conversation with someone earlier today -- because they are sweet and personal.
