I wish I could erase it from your life as well as mine....I go on even when I don't want to, I did counseling and I talk to others about how I'm feeling.....I hope you feel better soon......don't give up, don't give up.....

I was depressed years ago but with a good doctor and some medication I worked my way out of it.

I did go through a good two years of depression when I was in my thirties. The reason is that I was in a very unhappy marriage and a stressful job. I probably could have coped with one or the other, but not both. I was also a little bit over weight which made me unhappy. The best thing that helped me was to get some exercise. I started playing a sport I really enjoyed - badminton. I'm really good at it and with the pride of winning, came a little self esteem. The exercise helped me lose a little bit of weight and I naturally found that I wanted to eat a little healthier. A few weeks and months later I was a lot more happy with life. I had left the dark place I was in behind and I started to look forward to my future. It all started, with just getting a little bit of exercise! Good luck, I've been there!

To people suffering from depression, know that you can always remember that you can get help and there is someone there that you can talk to.

I've traveled the depression route and it was worse at some times of my life than others.  I experienced severe suicidal post partum depression after delivering my first child.  That phase lasted 2 years and I can honestly say that I fasted and prayed to survive that time of my life.  The result was that I found a chiropractor who did muscle testing to determine how he could help me.  After seeing him for a couple of visits I was more stable, able to be employed, etc.

Now, I take a prescription medication called generic Lexapro.  It's for a general anxiety disorder and it also helps me with depression.  I understand B vitamins are also very helpful for stress, depression and mental health issues.

Hang in there and connect with a solution that works well for you.
Have a great day!

Patience and support. Keep remembering that the person with depression has no control over it because it is an illness just like any other illness. Encourage them to get help and be there for them. It's so hard to deal with because we feel so powerless to help.

For depression, the best thing is to see a psychiatrist for help.  You can't do it on your own. Also to join a group if you think that will help.

Thanks! I have known folks that gone through it, but now a family member is in the hospital for it, so I'm trying to get some insights...

I've found that music helps. Staying busy helps a lot too. The more time there is to think, the worse things get. That's just how it is for me, though. Depression is different for everyone.

I wish there was something I could say to help you with it.  I suffer from it as well, and all I can do is try to push it aside and go on.  Some days it's a lot harder than others...

My 15 year old daughter suffers from this. She was a cutter as well. She has been seeing a counselor for a few years and also sees a psychiatrist. She is on medication but we haven't found the right combination yet. We just changed again. I pray for relief for her, to be a happy teenage girl.
