I wore uniforms all through out school, right up till high school. I hated them. However, when I became a parent and sent my two daughters to school, I wanted them back! Once their schools started requiring uniforms, things got a little easier, at least financially :)

I think they are okay and they are not expensive here where I live. My son does not have to wear a uniform. They do have guidelines about the clothing worn by the kids. Mainly nothing offensive or vulgar language on t shirts. His new school allows the kids to wear baseball caps as long as they are worn correctly. His other school did not allow that. They are not to wear their hoodies on the head unless it is a rainy day. (Good Idea on that on). Safety is a number one priority for the kids. Uniforms is not a bad thing really but some parents might feel diff. It is the child who's opinion really counts, they are the ones who have to wear them. :)

whether public or private, enforcing uniforms for students a good policy. We want students to learn in school not be some kind of fashion show. With everyone dress alike it would cut down on students creating groups and bullying would be cut down. you can't pick on someone who's wearing the same style as you.

I used to hate having to wear them but now I forgot that I even wore uniform to school
Honestly, it was nice having an outfit already planned out. Not everyone would agree with me but there were days I woke up and didn't feel like looking for clothes and just put on the first shirt and pants I saw.

Don't really care.  I went through Kindergarten through 5th grade without uniforms and I was happy.  Then I did 6th through my senior year in high school with uniforms and I hated it.

The most annoying thing for me with the uniforms was that we were basically required to wear a skirt all the time.  I live in Michigan so for most of the school year, it's snowing or cold and yet your legs are all exposed to this cold.  Granted we are only outside for a few minutes because my mom would pick me up/drop me off or I would get a ride with someone, but it still was annoying.  I don't see why the girls couldn't wear some form of pants.

Plus, it wasn't like it leveled out the playing field or anything.  People were still getting bullied for being overweight or being nerdy or whatever so it wasn't like it just made everyone friends.  I honestly don't see the purpose of uniforms, but then again, I was never one of those who really cared about clothes.  I go with comfort instead of style, so perhaps I'm not the group they are trying to target with this concept.

I wish they would do away with strict uniforms but do better guidelines of what's appropriate.  Something like solid color shirts, no graphics or words, and nice looking pants or skirts that are X length long.  Even better would be if the school would have an outfit for students who don't meet these criteria so that if someone's skirt is too short or their pants have holes, then they are sorta forced into a uniform for X days to see what it's like to have their freedom taken away.  That way, those who follow the rules can continue to enjoy their own clothes and those who can't would get a uniform that forces them to follow.

I think its a waste of money and two it does garner a little hate from the kids towards the parents and school that they go to

dont like it! my opinion is that it takes away from a child creativity and uniqueness of being who they want to be.

School uniforms is a good idea because so many people buy clothes that are name brand and others can't afford them, so It's good because everyone looks the same and don't have to worry about impressing anyone else. They should've had this when I was in school. I could've used that clothing money toward something else.

There are more pros than cons I think.

Cons:
Less individuality

Pros:
Save on cost of clothing
Kids focus less on their appearance (clothing wise)
Kids don't have to worry about impressing other kids with their clothing (or lack thereof in some cases)
Less time deciding on what to wear
Kids focus on school work and less time on their appearance

That's just a few off the top of my head. I think it's a good thing in the long run.

I think it's good for the children and for parents. It's good for the children because the won't be distracted as much by fashion. It's good for the parents because they are not spending money for a bunch of fads. :)

My son wore uniforms and we loved it, now he's changing to a school with no uniforms, clothing have already started to take a toll financially.

i agree with it because there are to many kids that don't have or can afford the clothing that some can and it stops the kids who can afford the better clothing from picking on the ones who can't afford it
, There's that or parents could teach their kids not to be little jack asses who bully people.
