Radio Loyalty Causing My Computer To Crash?
« on: August 13, 2014, 11:49:40 am »
I never had any issues with Radio Loyalty before, but for the past two days my computer has crashed...

I believe the advertisements are causing the problem (I could be wrong)...

There's TWO ads playing simultaneously. One on the left, one on right and a banner at the bottom that's continually changing. IT"S TOO MUCH.

:(

Are you on a PC with Windows?   You can check the extent to which your computer is under strain by looking at the Windows Task manager.  Just depress Ctrl/Alt/Del to bring up the Windows Task Manager.  (Depending on the age of your computer, it will come up directly or on Windows 7, you'll get new page with a menu where one of the selections is  (Start)  Task Manager).

There are 6 tabs, but I look at the Performance Tab which has graphs and bar charts to show you the extent to which your CPU (computer processing unit) is being used and right below that is the amount of working memory that is being utilized.  If your CPU is bouncing off 100% -- you're right -- your PC is under strain.

Check the Processes tab to see which process is using the most CPU and Memory (you can sort the process by click on the CPU or Memory header).  My machine's biggest memory hog is my Firefox browser  which is where I run Radio Loyalty; next is Adobe Flash which is important in running the video ads on RL.  If I were running Facebook games (on Chrome), that would also be a big memory user.

I have not noticed any unusual changes in RL in the last two days that caused a problem on my machine.  But Adobe Flash frequently crashes on my PC because I also run Facebook games at the same time and both the games and RL are big users of Adobe Flash.

One other thing:  I just received updates, today,  of my Adobe Reader, Flash Player ActiveX and Flash Player Plugin (all of which are related to the use of Adobe Flash, I imagine).

Check to see if you have the latest version of your software from Adobe and your browser.

Yes, I use a PC with windows...

Thank you so much, I appreciate your help. I'm going to do what you suggest. At the time that my computer crashed I wasn't running any games. I had another tab up reading the fusioncash forum. I'm a novice when it comes to computers even though I've owned them for years. Excuse my naivety, lol.

I'm no expert either, but I've learned a bit by experience -- sometimes  a OMG experience.  But I've found watching the Task Manager to be helpful just in seeing how some sites affect the PC's operation both in using up working memory and CPU.

If you look at the processes -- some you will figure out just by looking at the name -- some not so easy, but you can search the name via Google and get a sense of what the process is for.

I can tell you that I have had problems from time to time with RL. I think there are ads or something that pop up that are not good and should be avoided.

Thank you for posting this, I have a dell laptop with windows 7 and every once in a while I get a popup that tells me I am using a lot of power, I will pay more attention to it and I am going to do these things you suggest..I have had flash player crash a lot and it is when I am on RL..

I agree-- I seldom had any problems with radio loyalty until they started running so many concurrent ads.  Now I get kicked off all the time.  I would like the 30-minute-to-credit feature if this did not happen, but most of the time the entire 30 minutes is wasted; if I refresh the page, it just starts all over at minute 1.
