Ebola
« on: August 10, 2014, 06:30:16 am »
Are people nervous about an outbreak in the US? I have heard that there's not too much to worry about, though I'm praying for all those in Africa who are in harm's way

I'm slightly concerned. Concerned because whilst every safety measure seems to have been taken in bringing the two Americans infected with Ebola back to America, I do think it's only a matter of time before some unaware infected person brings it back unknowingly. However I feel positive about the medical profession and their knowledge of how it is spread, the best remedies to help with treatment of the infection and precautions that we can all take to eliminate the chance of getting infected.

It's not something I really worry about.  The medical people seem to think it is not going to be a problem in this country because we have many more medications than are available in Africa.  Of course, they may be saying that to avoid panic.  I hope not though.

A doctor was brought here for treatment and I understand that a man who was traveling to the U.S. became ill so yes it concerns me to a point.  Not any sense in worrying about it but it is concerning.   :(

I read the statistics yesterday that 30,000 people die annually of the flu every year, so if we're not overly concerned with the flu, why worry about ebola - especially when the only 2 people who had it in the USA are apparently recovering.

I don't quite understand why the government in the countries where it is truly an issue, don't put more money into researching for a cure, or prevention.  How is it here in America that they found a potential cure, when it really is a nonissue here, except for it being a pandemic in the future.

i worry about it some, as there always the possibility that someone will have it unknownly and bring it into the usa, but I try to remember that we have a lot of medical knowledge that they do not have in 3rd world countries, and try to make some peace in that knowledge

It is scary. Although they said no cure now but they said it will until 2015. It will be still a while to find a better treatment

Ebola is scary in that there is no cure yet. It is spreading rapidly in Africa and now some neighboring countries. I don't think we in the US are in danger at this point but it would be wonderful if they could come up with a cure.

There is no need to worry.  Worrying never helps any situation.  It is all in the Lord's hands.
Have a wonderful day!
