I don't think there is a right or a wrong. People believe what they need to believe in order to justify their existence.

Isiah 44:19

And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

Deut 27:15

Deuteronomy 27:15
"Cursed is anyone who makes an idol--a thing detestable to the LORD, the work of skilled hands--and sets it up in secret." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

Discernment answers many questions......RE star of Bethlehem...

Could the star have been a natural event or could it have appeared by divine providence? Consider some facts: The “wise men” were not what we would today call academics; neither were they kings. They were, as most modern English translations read, “astrologers.” They engaged in a practice condemned in the Holy Scriptures. (Deuteronomy 18:10-12) Note that only these astrologers were reported to have “seen” the star. If the star had been an actual star, it would have been as visible as a beacon to the public in general. But even King Herod had to ask them about the details of its appearance. This star guided the astrologers first to Jerusalem, to Herod, a mortal enemy of the future Messiah. He intended to kill the child Jesus. Then the star shifted direction and led the astrologers south to Bethlehem where Jesus was, thus placing Jesus’ life in danger.
These facts give evidence that the star was from an evil source, most likely Satan the Devil. The Bible describes him as using “lying signs and portents.” (2 Thessalonians 2:9) It should thus not surprise true Christians that Satan could make only astrologers see a starlike object and could jockey that “star” to lead them to God’s Son, whom he wanted to destroy. Of course, no one can outmaneuver Jehovah God. Thus, it comes as no surprise that the Devil’s ploy to bring an early death to Jesus was thwarted.

The bible doesnt tell us the exact number of 2 yr olds murdered...but a scripture was fulfilled with that from Jeremiah and even if 1 was only killed it is still an innocent life.

What irks me with this xmas BS is theres a song "We 3 kings of Orient are"...this is a joyous occasion?

The world today is so blinded from the devils machinations its sad.To those that know the truth they know God will soon put an end to all this madness!!

And yes, any Christian will tell you that the death of Jesus holds more import than his birth in terms of what that means. Yet that doesn't mean that celebrating his birth is somehow evil... Even if his birth resulted in the death of a couple of dozen innocent children being killed. Or is Jesus' death also tainted because of the Roman persecution of hundreds of early Christians following shortly thereafter?

I agree. The fact that Herod killed babies as the reason we shouldn't celebrate Christmas is ludicrous to say the least.Jesus death caused a multitude to be persecuted, tortured and martyred.Does that mean His death and Resurrection shouldn't be celebrated?

Frankly,it's like a chicken or the egg question. If Jesus wasn't born into the world, then He couldn't die and be raised from the dead. So,it's pretty tough to say which was the more important holy day, since we needed both to happen!

For someone who preaches discernment, you seem to be showing a lack thereof.

Nobody "worships" a Christmas tree. You decorate it,make it look nice and enjoy the meaning behind it.(The evergreen,a symbol of Christ's Eternal Life given to us as a gift).

When there is evidence of people who pray to a Christmas tree, kneel in worship to a Christmas tree  and offer sacrifices to a Christmas tree, then maybe I'll consider it a harmful "idolatrous"  thing.

The Wise Men weren't  "astrologers",they were Astronomers. They weren't out to tell fortunes for a coin or somesuch, they were learned men (hence the term "Wise Men!") who studied the movement of the planets and knew prophesy.

Plus, you're giving the Devil too much credit for power.True,he should not be underestimated, but the ability of creation belongs to God alone.Satan has no power to create.Rather, his is to destroy. And he has been steadily trying to destroy God's works from the beginning.

ABSOLUTELY no command to memorialize his birth. The torment, humiliation etc that went with his death id say was quite different than just being born.

Pretty silly opening statement.

Again, there need not be a command to celebrate a day for the Lord and the JW's give blatant disregard for Romans 14:5-6.

My point is not that Christmas is "more important" than Easter.Only that Good Friday/Easter could not have happened without Christmas, hence it's importance.

Part of the problem is you're thinking of the Cross as a symbol of failure when it is in fact a symbol of Christ's victory.Without the Cross, there would be no Salvation.Again,it's not a case of being "commanded" to wear a cross, but it identifies the faith.(Not a "good luck charm" as you call it.)That's the cult-like mentality that causes the kinds of superstitious regulations Christ fought the Pharisees over.

Sillier yet.The Watchtower teaches that Christ died on a "torture stake".Regardless that history teaches and the bible itself clam otherwise.Apparently the cross makes JW's uncomfortable,as they compare it to pagan symbolism. But the cross is what the Romans used to execute people, historically. The fact that it somewhat resembles the Egyptian ankh is purely coincidentally.

Whatever day you celebrate Jesus birth <and im sure its 12/25 to keep your status with catholics on FC>...Jesus didnt have to go thru his being treated as a criminal, tormented and humiliated till death. He accepted it and chose to do so for the love of mankind and vindicate his father as TRUE God and break up the works of the devil.

While being born as a man on earth to start this mission he could have still said NO.Then your birth of Jesus would not have the value as it had cos of his death.

13 How was the ransom paid? On the 14th day of the Jewish month Nisan in 33 C.E., God allowed his perfect and sinless Son to be executed. Jesus thus sacrificed his perfect human life “once for all time.” (Hebrews 10:10) On the third day after Jesus died, Jehovah raised him back to spirit life. In heaven, Jesus presented to God the value of his perfect human life sacrificed as a ransom in  exchange for Adam’s offspring. (Hebrews 9:24) Jehovah accepted the value of Jesus’ sacrifice as the ransom needed to deliver mankind from slavery to sin and death.—Romans 3:23, 24.

I am not sure why i even bother but hopefully 1 soul will see the truth....

Does it really make any difference if a person cherishes a cross, as long as he does not worship it?
How would you feel if one of your dearest friends was executed on the basis of false charges? Would you make a replica of the instrument of execution? Would you cherish it, or would you rather shun it?
In ancient Israel, unfaithful Jews wept over the death of the false god Tammuz. Jehovah spoke of what they were doing as being a ‘detestable thing.’ (Ezek. 8:13, 14) According to history, Tammuz was a Babylonian god, and the cross was used as his symbol. From its beginning in the days of Nimrod, Babylon was against Jehovah and an enemy of true worship. (Gen. 10:8-10; Jer. 50:29) So by cherishing the cross, a person is honoring a symbol of worship that is opposed to the true God.
