CrowdFlower tasks
« on: July 13, 2014, 09:56:36 pm »
I am having difficulty with the crowdflower tasks only. I already installed the extension and it does not recognize this. I tried deleting cookies/history and everything else, still nothing. It used to work fine, don't know what happened. Anyone else having problems? Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

You installed an extension?  What extension is that?  I do tasks and never had to install any extension.

There is this certain task with CrowdFlower and they make you install their extension into your browser to make sure the task is done properly. There is also a little icon that is placed on your browser in the upper right hand corner to know that you have it and to allow the task to work. I will try another browser. I am using Chrome right now, I will try IE and let everyone know what happens. thanks you all!

I finally understand what extension you're talking about since I got a Task that required that extension and installed it myself.  I use Firefox and installed the extension there.  The icon is showing and I was able to complete the task using the extension.  I didn't have any problems with it.  Although the extension did NOT say whether your version of Firefox, Chrome, etc. should be the most updated version - could it be possible that your Chrome is outdated and needs an update?  Is the extension turned ON or was it disabled somehow?

I would not do that task again. it seemed to be a spy bar. or adware. just keeping track of what you are looking at. it would not get off my tool bar. I had to change tool bars. so you think if we use firefox it works and is safe then. black sheep?

I use Chrome and I have issues with the extension. I sent a support ticket to CF letting them know I was being asked to download the extension, but I already had it installed. They gave me a credit for that task, but now I just avoid that one if I see it.

I don't think that Crowd Flower would install something you're not aware of (like spyware).  As I stated, I have it installed in my Firefox and it's just a small icon to the right of the tool bar (I've got a few icons there).  I haven't had any problems with spyware, etc., and the Tasks that require this extension work fine for me.

Also, if you're not happy with that extension in whichever browser you installed it on, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to UNinstall it.  To uninstall from Firefox, click on "Add-ons."  On the left hand side, then click on "Extensions."  Look in the list of extensions presented, find the extension you no longer want, and click on "REMOVE."  This will uninstall that particular extension from Firefox.  You may have to restart Firefox after uninstalling.

I tried Firefox and had no problems. I am thinking it may be a problem with cookies on Chrome. Thanks all!
