I'm psychic.  We all have the ability to tune into our sixth sense to some degree or other.  People say "I'll believe it when I see it."  Some things, however, need to be believed to be seen.  Why should anyone deny any God given gift, just because you can't hold it in your hand.  To paraphrase Wayne Dyer, we're not human beings having spiritual experiences, we're spiritual beings having a human experience.

Have you ever sensed who was calling before you picked up the phone?  Have you ever had a funny feeling about going a certain way so you changed your route and later discovered you missed a traffic accident?  Parents, have you ever had a feeling about your kid then found they were in trouble or sick?  What about twins and their connection to each other?  These are all psychic events.  God gives us this ability to help us navigate this complicated world so why not embrace it?

There are no absolutes in this physical world so you can not discriminate against a whole group of people by saying they all do something.  Not all people who openly acknowledge their psychic gifts are "just in it for the money".  If you have a talent for something shouldn't you use it?  The world would be a better place if everyone did work that they enjoy.   :peace:  :angel11: :rainbow:

CharmedPhoenix, thanks for sharing your experiences. I never thought about it that way(knowing or sensing what will happen before they occur like phone call or someone having another baby?). I think most people who believe in God would say that it was a prompting from the "holy ghost".

I believe that different people have different gifts; whether we understand their gifts or not.  I know some people have psychic abilities because I have friends with those gifts.  They are usually hypersensitive individuals who easily tune into energy.  It isn't something they try to be.  It happens naturally for them.

About 15 years ago I was seeing a counselor who was able to psychically "tune into" my energy so she was able to help me with my baggage.  I didn't even have to vent with her because she was "aware" of what I'd experienced in my past.

There are different flavors of being psychic.  Some people are able to see what's happening in the future where others might only be aware of certain things involving people they are very close to.  Some people dream and are psychically aware of certain things while they sleep.

It's not too unusual for a married couple to become psychically and emotionally aware of certain things with each other because they share the same energy field whenever they experience intimate moments with each other.  It's all metaphysical and it exists even if we're not able to reach out and hold it.

Gravity, faith and love also exist on a metaphysical level.

Sherryinutah, thanks for sharing your thoughts. You and a couple others who have shared detailed thoughts about this subject have given me further light and understanding about gifts and abilities that we or some people have.  So these gifts are people born with them or do they develop them over the course of their lives?

It's funny and sad at the same time because psychics are very real and everyone will have the ability in the far distant future to have this gift. We all have it but don't know how to utilize it! I am clairvoyant and sense spiritual presence but I don't know how to control it or use it. I have dreams where my dead friends and relatives come to me to communicate with me.

Explain this one: My grandmother (mother's mom) died 3 yrs before I was born. My mom was 14 when she died. Many years ago I was having this reoccurring dream of her and I could tell you exactly what she was wearing and what she said to me. Well, when I told my mother what she was wearing, you would have thought she seen a ghost. I described the coloring of my grandmothers outfit & the clothing style to a tee and my mother stutters "She wore that exact outfit you are describing the day we buried her!". Coincidence? NO! I don't believe in coincidences. Ever since then, I knew I had some tap into the spirit world. I was in my early 20's when this happened. I still get goose bumps just thinking about it.
;)

kimber62372, Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the matter at hand. Sounded like you do have a very special gift. What a wonderful blessing.
Thank you!! I truly believe that we are all blessed!   :angel11:

How do you know if a psychic can be trusted?  Why don't you ask them?  (joke)  :)
Years ago, I liked to watch Sylvia Browne when she was on a talk show on TV.  Then, after she passed away, I read where she was thoroughly spiteful and disgusting in person, and that, when her predictions were researched, they were hardly ever true.  I don't remember statistics, but they were pretty low.

I don't know if people have psychic ability; I went to a woman when I lived in Chicago in 1983 who claimed to be a reader, and she told me I would live to be 83 (I am 55 now), I would have three children (I have one child) and then she asked for $50 on my return trip.  I never went back to her.  I dated a guy for three years, and he told me I was going on a trip.  I agreed I was going on a trip, but I hadn't disclosed this information to her.  I recall that I had a dream that my mother and aunt had passed on (my mother was 55 when she died and my aunt died at age 61).  What made me wonder about it was because they were dressed in blue dresses, blue caskets and black wigs.  I awakened because I felt apprehensive in the dream and my mother told me not to leave.  I turned around and she was crawling out of the casket.  I told my grandmother of the dream I had, and she told me that my dreaming of my mother and aunt dying meant two men would die.   My husband at the time, my cousin and I went out and I ran into two guys I went to school with.  We went home and I received a phone call from my best friend informing me that the two guys I went to school with were dead.  I told her I had seen them last night.  I went to their funeral and they were dressed in brown suits and brown caskets.  It resembled my dream somewhat.  I believe that people can have psychic ability, but I don't really know about it. ??? ??? ??? :rose: :rainbow:

I think they tell you what you already know.

They should tell you the winning lottery numbers, then I believe them.  They just want to rip off peoples money.

I don't believe in psychics.  The mumbo jumbo that they tell you is just something you want to hear.  They may talk to you and get a general feel about you and off they go.  The biggest scam ever.

I think having a "sixth sense" and psychics are two different things.  A lot of people are sensitive to feelings and occurrences, as I am, but are not psychic.  I am not psychic.  The only person I have met in real life who claimed to be psychic I found out later to be a liar about everything in her life.

I don't, thought I find the topic interesting. Psychologists/researchers have never been able to prove psychic ability.

I've personally never had any encounter make me a believer. My husband and I went to a psychic in New Orleans. She said I would have a son (I was 29 at the time) and have PCOS and cannot have children, but just shook my head thinking maybe she meant adoption. Every single adoption we tried failed so nearly at 40 and no children and have lost the desire.
She told my husband he suffered greatly during his childhood (he is lots of tattoos that were showing, which is often a sign of emotional problems), so no great win there either.

What is the Christian view of psychics / fortune tellers?

Christian psychics, Christian fortune tellers

Question: "What is the Christian view of psychics / fortune tellers?"

Answer: The Bible strongly condemns spiritism, mediums, the occult, and psychics (Leviticus 20:27; Deuteronomy 18:10-13). Horoscopes, tarot cards, astrology, fortune tellers, palm readings, and séances fall into this category as well. These practices are based on the concept that there are gods, spirits, or deceased loved ones that can give advice and guidance. These “gods” or “spirits” are demons (2 Corinthians 11:14-15).

I agree, hitch0403.  I am taking a Bible course online and a portion of it recently dealt with this very thing.  I had planned to look up the scripture, but you beat me to it.  :)
Our God is a loving God, but He is also a jealous God.  He wants nothing else worshiped but Himself.   There is nothing else that deserves God's glory.

I must say I do.  As a matter of fact I recently went to a "reading" and the psychic was right on the money and she had no idea about anything in my particular family.  She was that good!
