Why are people so mean on Sunday's
« on: July 07, 2014, 11:08:10 am »
I swear it seems that people are more hateful and mean on Sunday than any other day of the week.  We absolutely dread the church crowd on Sunday afternoon's.  They are the most mean evil vindictive people that come into our store.  I just don't get it.  I am not knocking Christians as a whole.  I am guessing the ones who act like this are just Sunday Christians as the saying goes.  Idk.  But it has been like that every where I have ever worked.

I remember years ago I had a man come in on Sunday to eat where I worked and he actually berated me for being at work and not at church on Sundays.  I am like "excuse me sir!  If YOU were not in here stuffing your face as soon as church gets out I could be off and go to church but since you and everyone else has to eat out on Sunday somebody has to be here to fix the food".  His reply "I need to see your manager".  Not a problem.  The manager agreed with me and he just stood there with egg on his face! lol

I think people use sunday for the wrong reason.  I mean they do all things bad all week and still come on Sunday with personal issues.  I really hate that when it comes via church.

I think sometimes you get people that have a "Holier Than Thou" attitude which really exerts itself on Sunday since on that day they are more focused on church and religion. And so when they see someone that is not acting to the standards of their church / denomination, they feel it is their moral duty to confront the person on their "sinful" ways. Instead of looking into their own lives and seeing ways in which they can be less sinful on their own account, they are too busy trying to point out the flaws in another person. And sometimes those flaws are merely that the other person doesn't believe in what they consider to be the only true religion, even though religion itself is a man-made construct and therefore is imperfect, as exemplified by the fact that there are so many different denominations within the realms of Christianity in general.

I am 55, and I have seen all kinds.  I have seen those with a chip on their shoulder, daring you to knock it off.  I have seen those who feel that their sole reason for living is to act as if they woke up on the wrong side of the bed.  I choose to go to church because it makes me feel good.  I am like freedavis; I don't like it when people wreaks havoc all the days of the week and, on Sunday, they are holier than thou.  My aunt was one of those people; she would wreak havoc the rest of the week as well as Sunday too.  But you couldn't tell her she was not holy, even when she was causing problems for her children (her husband had 6 children, she had 4, and they have a daughter together); she treated his children so bad that they all left home.  Before she died, all of them forgave her except for one; he had 5 daughters and a son, and the fourth daughter said she would never forgive her.  She tortured those children, but she would have killed him if he touched a hair on her children's heads.  For those people who are so mean-spirited on Sunday, I don't want to be around them, because they will contaminate my day. :female: :male: :female: :male: :male: :male: :female:  :male: :female: :female: :female: :female: :female: :female: ??? :rainbow: :rose:

M Ghandi had NO use for christianity...but he did say this......

reported conversation between the Hindu leader Mohandas K. Gandhi and the former British Viceroy of India, Lord Irwin:

Lord Irwin asked Gandhi what he thought would solve the problems between Great Britain and India. Gandhi picked up a Bible and opened it to the fifth chapter of Matthew and said: "When your country and mine shall get together on the teachings laid down by Christ in this Sermon on the Mount, we shall have solved the problems not only of our countries but those of the whole world."

That sermon* speaks of:
seeking spirituality,
being mild-tempered, peaceable, merciful, a lover of righteousness
condemns not only murder but being wrathful with others,
condemns not just adultery but lustful thoughts as well
speaks against irresponsible divorce actions
It tells us: 'Love even those who dislike you,
give to the needy,
stop judging others unmercifully,
treat others as you would like to be treated

Pretty strong stuff from a fictional charactor <Jesus>......Even Ghandi was impressed!

Well I have never met any one on a Sunday that was mean or nasty to me. In fact it is one of the most pleasant days of the week. Yes I do go to church and I try to practice what the Good Lord wishes. I don't know where you live but here it is a very nice day. And on the other days of the week I meet up with those from church they always treat me great. Maybe it is your attitude that needs work, like go to church and get to know the Lord.

LOL  I don't think I would have had the courage to tell that guy off, but I sure would have wanted to.  So glad your manager stood up for you.  ;)

I like what Ghandi said.  He was right.  It doesn't matter if one belongs to a church.  What really matters is how you live your life, how you treat people.  Christ said "Whatsoever ye do to the least of your brothers so ye do unto me."  Would those people treat Christ like they treated you?

The funny thing is that guy is turning people off from church and his beliefs by modeling bad behavior.  No one wants to be around people that behave like that, even one day a week.  He needs to lighten up.  Another thing Matthew wrote was  "Before you go to get the splinter out of your neighbor's eye get the plank out of your own".  I guess your customer didn't read that part.  ::)

Being RELIGIOUS is the big issue.  It is a title some people sometimes wear.  The RELIGIOUS do not usually hear the true word that is being taught nor do they practice it.  many RELIGIOUS people believe they are righteous and are above learning,  they have become crass and set in their ways.  Christianity on the other hand is a form of religion that embraces love, peace, kindness, understanding, forgiveness and humanity.  No matter what religion you practice this is what should come from it, not the condemnation that was received for working and earning a living.  I could go on and on but......enough said.    :angel11:

I can honestly say that I really don't come across many mean people on Sundays. Maybe it is just where I live.
