comScore, Inc. Class Action Suit
« on: July 07, 2014, 05:39:09 am »
I got a card in the mail Saturday informing me that I am eligible to be a party in the $14,000,000 class action suit against comScore, Inc.  According to the card, unapproved data was collected by comScore, Inc. from my computer in 2005.  I'm glad they are aware of it because I sure wasn't!!  I'm going to follow up with it to see what becomes of it.  Makes me wonder what information they obtained from my computer that caused the class action suit?????
Have a wonderful day!

Just because you received the card does not mean you are actually a member of the suit.  You have to go to the website associated with the law suit and opt in and give them your info.  I would be careful because it could be a scam.  I have join class action law suits before against food companies.  It takes a long long time and your payout is usually less than $10.

I think country girl may be right.  Sometimes these letters can be very misleading.  There's a supposed huge sum of money in the total pot.  Then if you want your share of the pot, you have to jump through all of these crazy hoops and who knows?  By the time all is said and done, you could be giving out your personal info. to some crook.

I've gotten post cards in the mail a few times where I was entitled to a settlement of some sort; or so it said.  I threw it away.

Now there was a program that I was in many years ago and the owners were actually taken to court.  I got a settlement from that program in the form of a check in the mail.  I didn't have to do anything to claim it either.

I knew that was not a scam because I remembered the name of the program I was in.

You can google comscoreinc class action lawsuit and see if there is something more legit than the post card you got.  You also have to take into consideration that the lawyers and court fees come out of that payout money and it goes out first.  They also will take the postage to send out the money to everyone out of that.  Like I said when it is all said and done your pay out is not much.  And if you do join the class action law suit and you were really hurt by the company being sued in the class action law suit when you accept the payment from that, say it is $7, then you are agreeing that THAT is your payout and you cannot sue them again for the same thing.

Like a few other people said, you can google that class action law suit and see what comes up.  If it's legit, then by all means, do what you have to do to join the law suit.  Even though there may not be a big payout (or sometimes none at all), if this company truly did collect data from you unlawfully, at the very least, it was an invasion of your PRIVACY (which is a BIG ISSUE these days)!  Personally, I wouldn't care if I got a dime out of the law suit.  I would, however, want this company to pay the price for the invasion of my privacy, first and foremost!

There are so many lawsuits anymore. So many companies do what they wish with your information and such. Very scary when you put any of your personal info out in the world!

I was notified at one time that I could become part of the class action suit against ClassMates.  This was pretty much upfront, but the payoff was only going to be a few dollars credited to your account.  I no longer had an account with them, so there was nothing I could do.
