Levette i am sure its a personal decision that you would know better. But maybe this bible scripture can help.

(James 1:27) The form of worship that is clean and undefiled from the standpoint of our God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their tribulation, and to keep oneself without spot from the world.

I know of foster parents who are older than you.  I think it is a wonderful thing.  You may be able to turn a child around who has given up on this world and humanity.  Good luck and God bless.

why not. that is by no means too old to foster children and as long as you are able and willing i wouldnt see why you would be turned down.

:) Absolutely! We raised 3 and adopted 4 more. Would have done more if I could have afforded it. It is a High Calling!  :)

I think you have to think it out very hard, look at the pro's and con's before taking such a step.

46 is not old.  If that's what you really want to do go for it.

I am around the same age as you and I would consider becoming a foster parent. I was one 14 years ago but after completing the 9 week training class I discovered that I was 9 weeks pregnant. I fostered for one year then stopped because the system was very messed up here in Florida.

I think that fostering and adoption are excellent options for people who want more children and are unable or unwilling to conceive themselves.

Although I've never had children or foster children I've worked with many troubled youth who were in foster care.  My general impression is the age of the foster parent is not important.  I knew a fantastic foster mom who was still fostering kids well into her 70's.  I think it has way more to do with attitude than age.

Good observation, pwvogt.  That and a lot of other things have "more to do with attitude than age."

I liked what the person said that fostering children had to do more with attitude than age... too true...
