Blood clots - what an inconvience
« on: June 25, 2014, 11:25:20 am »
I went into my Dr for a recheck and within hours ended up being admitted to the hospital for blood clots.  I'm not quite 40 yet and it seems everyone I know is telling me horrible stories of there saga with clotting issues.  Does anybody have any good news on this problem.  I was only in the hospital for 24 hours and my dr. released me... giving myself shots of loveonex and taking cumidin orally.  Going through what they call finding the therapeutic phase.  Likely to be on cumidin for a limit of 3 months.  Sound familiar to anyone else?

I have no experience with blood clots, but wish you well.  Our health is nothing to take for granted!

Where are you clotting? Not to sound gross but the only clotting that happened to me is when I get my monthly visitor. It comes and goes.

My mother was on Coumadin & loveonex to prevent clots & swelling when she had cancer & was undergoing chemotherapy & was spending time in a bed.

Why are you forming clots?  Is that  what they are trying to find out?  That would be a scary situation to be in if it is just arbitrary formation, I feel for you.   Hopefully they'll be able to get it under control!

Sounds way too familiar as I went through this about three years ago at age forty eight.  I had broken my foot and was in a cast for seven months. Due to in activity a clot formed (DVT-deep veinous thrombosis). I was on Lovenox for about six weeks and taking Coumadin/warfarin.  At first the clot was not disappearing so the doctors kept upping the amount of Coumadin I was taking till I started bloating and defecating blood.  I ended up being on Coumadin for close to two years and am just now beginning to get my body back.  Make sure you let your doctors know if you are going on vacation as elevation changes can mess your blood flow up.

Good grief - I'm 38 and Dr.'s said thanks to my age I'll likely be on coumadin for 3 months.  I'm also administering lovenox shots.  We lost our little one in the 2nd trimester and they said the labor and delivery initiated the clot.  So far... not much relief.
