Losing our Civil Liberties
« on: June 23, 2014, 04:10:57 pm »
If you're concerned about civil liberties and human rights, you may want to check out an article called "The US Supreme Court is marching in lockstep with the police state," in the weekly commentary column on Rutherford.org. It's disturbing to say the least, but every American needs to know how our Supreme Court is destroying our civil liberties.

:) We are currently losing our liberties at a fast pace. Unfortunately, America is in decline.  :(

I am not a fan of our present Supreme Court, but do you ever read the news?  Do you know what is going on in some other countries?  I have seen many instances where public opinion has changed things.  I'm curious - just what civil liberties have you lost?  Perhaps you might like to go and live in Iraq or Afghanistan.  Also - do you vote?

Our father who is in heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Let your kingdom come on earth as is in heaven.....

I was wondering just how many of you understand this prayer when you say it?

It was nice to see the Supreme Court get something right with the Hobby Lobby decision.

I agree but it didn't just represent HL. Also with them was Mardel (religious book store), and Conestoga Wood which is wholly owned by Mennonites.

I watched the protesters on C-Span that day and most of the people protesting didn't even know what it was about. They were told it was the 'war on women' and that HL and the other companies winning meant no woman would have birth control.  I hate that. People have to learn to read the 'arguments" before flying off the handle and behaving like they were (sorry, need another word for that but am having senior moments today).

What really got me was the 15-year-old BOY protesting. Why? He didn't know. He just thought it would be neat to be a part of a protest. That really makes sense.

SCOTUS is at least starting to fight back. I've heard that 13 decisions were against Obama's administration. The one I really know against Obama is the unanimous NLRB appointments.

I wish they would strike down most of Sebelius' and the EPA directives. Neither of those agencies are allowed to make law, which they are now because of Obama's Executive Orders.

I don't feel the Supreme Court is destroying our liberties nearly as much as the huge government agencies that make more and more rules constrantly.  They're the ones that really scare me.  EPA has really gotten out of hand but many others are nearly as bad.

It’s not just the U.S. I’m seeing a similar trend in Canada. False security is being secretly exchanged for our civil rights and we are going along with it.

I don't lose any sleep about it because I can do nothing about it...and that's the truth...
