Teaching a girl to make their bed
« on: June 10, 2014, 06:56:19 pm »
Do you think if you teach a little girl or a little boy for that matter to make their bed as a child they will continue to do it as an adult even if they hate doing it as a kid?

If it becomes a habit, then it just will come naturally.

I can remember being taught to make my bed as a little girl.  :angel11: My mom taught me. And now I'm very glad I know how to do it.  :)

I had to do it as a child and I stopped doing it at probably 16 because I hated it and didn't see the point

I made my bed as a child and then quit as I got older, I did not see the point.  Now I make my bed as soon as I get up each day.  Then I feel like I have already accomplished something for the day.

lol.  NO.  I am going to get back in it in a little while so why bother making it up. :D

Sometimes I do.  Sometimes I don't.

Please teach your boys too! Unfortunately, too many parents only teach girls how to take care of household chores and then the boys grow up to be helpless and dependent on their wife to do EVERYTHING!

You wouldn't know it but it really isn't a easy task.  If the child don't know how to make their bed they won't know to make the bed when someone other than family or friends tells them to makeup the bed, and that will embarrass them.

I had to make my bed growing up, but now as a single adult, the only time I make the bed is when I change the sheets.  I really don't see the point as I'm the only one who goes into my bedroom, and it's just easier to get in at the end of the day.  :P

I make my bed too, usually.   I like walking in to a clean, put together room.... puts life in a positive organized light for some reason.

I learned to make my bed as a kid, taught my girls, and my daughter is teaching her son.  We always make our beds everyday.

I was taught as a child to make my bed. My boys were taught not only to make their beds, but clean up the bathroom, kitchen , cook and do laundry. As an adult my oldest may have not been as good about it, but at least he was out working making a good living.
