My Granddaughter :(
« on: June 10, 2014, 08:13:04 am »
She will be 2 next month and she isn't talking yet. If you have grandkids or little ones, how old were they when they started talking?...I'm beginning to worry  :(...we know that she is not Autistic :dontknow:

That is not that big of a deal.  Does she say anything at all?  My younger cousin was older than 2 before he started talking.  He just did not have anything to say.  If she does not say anything at all then I would be more concerned.  But it does not mean something is wrong.

I have been there.  My daughter would talk to her father, but not me.  We had a way to communicate.  When she wanted something, she would extend an open palm and nod her head to my questions.  She finally said something at the age of 2 and a half.   She will eventually talk.  Give it a little while longer.  Just look out:  when she starts talking, she is not going to shut up.  I always got the report from her teachers that "she is a marvelous child, but she talks too much!"  She is 28 years now. :female: :female:   :rose: :rainbow:

She will talk when she has something to say AND then you'll probably wish she didn't talk so much...

Does she make any sounds/noises? I wouldn't be too worried some kids just take longer.  I didn't have a talking problem, but my oldest daughter didn't walk until she was almost 2 (it scared me), but when she started she ran!  Give it time and try not to worry.

Does everybody do the talking for her?  One of our younger ones was a late talker, but she just grunted and the older three jumped to do whatever she needed.  Then when she finally started to talk she would not quit!  LOL  Have her checked by the pediatrician if you are concerned, just to relieve your mind.  But the times they have for kids to do things are just an average, not something written in stone.  Different kids in different circumstances do things at different times.  Don't Worry.

I would suggest she get some "talking" toys or toys that make sounds. Maybe this will get her at least making sounds even if she can't say full sentences or words.

My second son didn't talk until he was four and I found out that his brother was talking for him so he had no need to say anything. but one day he got mad at me and spoke quite clear because his brother wasn't around.

It's okay that she's not talking, yet.  Some people (including children) are better listeners than they are talkers.  Is her hearing alright?  Does she respond when she's asked a question?

Have a great day!

That is not that big of a deal.  Does she say anything at all?  My younger cousin was older than 2 before he started talking.  He just did not have anything to say.  If she does not say anything at all then I would be more concerned.  But it does not mean something is wrong.

While that does seem odd to not talk at all it does not necessarily mean she cannot talk.  Does she try to talk?  And I am not being negative at all - but can she hear?  Does she cry?  If she cries then her vocal cords and whatever else is involved works.  I hope that makes sense. lol.
I swear my cousin, I did not hear him say a word, until he was at least 2 years old.  And they were concerned that there may be something going on with him.  I still remember the first word I heard him say...

BATMAN

We were watching Batman on TV.  He screamed BATMAN for over 2 hours.  And he is fine.
