Sure you can get a car.Don't know what i would do without mine.I don't drive much but just getting to the store or doctors would be almost impossible. Now my mother never drove and she had to rely on buses and when older on me i think she didn't want to spend the money on one.

Of course not. It's never too late for anything that you really have a desire to do.

And if you think you're too old, then shame on you.

Age is only a number.  Go for it!  I hope you get just what you've dreamed of!

It is never too late to prepare to and get yourself a car. I have a friend who is in her mid-forties who was in the same situation as you, and she went through the steps of getting a driver's license and then a car, and she is sooooooo happy she did it! So I say go for it.

Not at all.  Forty-six is not old and even if it were, as long as you are in good health, have good eyesight, and adequate reflexes, driving a car can be learned or relearned.  (You did not say if you already knew how to drive--I'm assuming not.)  I have known people who always let their spouses drive them everywhere and never learned how.  When the spouse died, it made them dependent on others, basically tied down.  Embrace independence-- you never know when you might need it and it will open up options you will not have otherwise.

No, it's never too late. My mother is 56, & I am trying to get her to buy a car. Whenever she has the money somethings comes up & she chooses to use the money benefiting someone else or she puts it off and over time ends up spending the money. She is very limited in the jobs that she can get, b/c she depends on public transportation and rides from others.
