For those who haven't seen the movie yet, I would highly recommend seeing it in a true IMAX theatre. The opening sequence (about 10 minutes or so) were made into 3D... and it was absolutely amazing. I'm not a big Harry Potter fan, but my husband is, so we went together and I was like  :o

((By true IMAX theatre, I'm not talking about the regular theatres that have a room set aside for IMAX... I'm talking about the monstrous ones like at the Virginia Air and Space Center that are like three stories tall.))

I haven't seen the new Harry Potter.  Only for the reason that I want to watch it in the comfort of my own home, where I can talk and rewind as much as I would like.

oy. i finnnally saw the new movie a couple of days ago.
and as expected, i wasn't disappointed ;p although there were a few things missing for me. then again, you can't expect them to cram every single book detail into a movie like that.

overall it gets a double thumbs up for me.

I loved all the books, even though I'm far past the target age. They're great for kids because they teach good moral values in addition to being page-turners.

I just recently got into it a year ago and read all of the books over the course of a year, watching each corresponding movie after I was finished. I almost liked that better because then I didn't have to wait for the books or movies (except for the last movie(s), that is). I saw the latest movie and I thought comically it was very good. I also liked all the love connections (Ginny/Harry, Ron/Lavender/Hermione), but I think it's one of the weaker movies they've made overall. I bet the last two will be amazing though!

I love all the Harry Potter stuff, too.  It's about the only thing I have in common with my little nephews to talk about!

Actually, the next movie is not going to be the last. The producers said that with previous books, they could omit things (shortening the length of the movie) without destroying the story. However, the last book is pure storyline... so they're not going to miss a single detail.

In short, the final Harry Potter book will span two movies.
