Social Media Shaming
« on: May 02, 2014, 12:30:29 am »
What do you think about the trend of social media shaming?

It started with people posting photos of pets and their bad behavior on sites like Facebook; however, now it's evolving to a point where some parents are posting photos and videos of their CHILDREN misbehaving and/or having temper tantrums and melt downs.

Personally, I believe everyone has their own style of parenting and their own way of disciplining their children.  I wouldn't post anything that could be detrimental to my relationship with that person in the future.

What do you think?

Have a great day!

its ridiculous.  whatever happened to keeping things behind closed doors.  in the day of people stealing pictures off the internet so easily, parents arent realizing how dangerous it is to even post pics of their kids to be shared online now!

I think the baby shaming and pet shaming pictures are hysterical. However, shaming a child when they are old enough to understand it can be very detrimental to their psyche.

I don't like the way parents post when they are spanking their children for doing something wrong.....I saw a post where both parents were beating their daughter who had run away from home, I wonder what made her feel the need to run away in the first place, next time she run away she gone make sure they don't find her....and that is scary to me as a parent....the lines of communication have got to be open so children can let us know how they are feeling, they are not going to tell us everything they do, but they should always feel safe and loved at home....I think it's wrong....but that's only my opinion.....

I think any parent that posts pictures of their child having any sort of melt-down is totally inappropriate and I further think the poor kid will be in therapy for the rest of his life, if, he doesn't turn into a mass murderer that is!!!!!!!!!!!!  SHAME ON THOSE PARENTS!!!!!!!!

A quote from Dr Phil comes to mind: "What were you thinking?"  This is a thoughtless and inappropriate act.  It is bullying.  Don't kids have it tough enough today with cyber-bullies and bullies at school?  Do they need to be bullied by their parents too?  I experienced that and it damaged me.  These people are lacking in parenting skills.  They are setting their children up to be victims and making them targets for pedifiles.  On the plus side, the parents that post videos of anyone beating their children are making it easy for child protective services to find abusive parents and have them arrested.  If you see these don't laugh, turn them in.  It's not funny.  >:(

Remember too, what's on the web is there forever.

I think it's lame. People should handle private family matters privately.

I like to see my friend's pictures they post, but no one has posted anything like that.  I don't think I would want to see those kind of pictures.

I believe that there are some things that should be shared on social media and some things that should not be shared on social media.  But social shaming is not a nice thing to do. ??? ??? ??? :rainbow: :rainbow:

Parents who do that really disgust me. Once you put it online, there's no telling if it will ever disappear. I think shaming for life for (usually minor) temporary lapses in judgement is just too extreme. This is really the first generation that has had to experience this and I feel terrible for them.
