Vick's Vapor Rub
« on: April 23, 2014, 07:10:42 am »
many of us can say we grew up with Vick's Vapor Rub when we got a cold.
Certain name brands remain popular for years.

Yes, Vick's vapor rub has been around a long time. I think I will google it to see how long it has been around. I heard it is used for many other things than just the common cold.

I think my family should buy stock in vicks Vapor rub.  Aside from rubbing it on our chests to help us breathe we drop it by the spoonful in boiling water.  That Vapor scent is released into the air and when we're really stuffed up - we'll put a towel over our heads and lean over the steam.  It works great but the entire surface of the stove get's this gel like slime surrounding the pot.

My grandmother swore by Vicks.  She said if you had a cold to rub it on your chest, but to make sure you completely washed it off the next morning before you went out.  She said if you didn't your cold would get worse.

I have a bottle of it sitting near the TV.  I have had to use it on my grandson when he could not breathe because his nose was stopped up.  It is a pride and true brand and still works.   :rainbow:

Wow, I remember this "cure" from early childhood.  Mom would rub it on our chests & cover with a clean, warm cloth when we had colds.

i don't know what I would do without it. There's always mucus in my chest (way more than normal) and when I put it on, I can breathe. I was so happy when I found the bigger jars of it at walmart.

I, too, grew up on it!  I learned as I got older it can also be good for achy muscles!  It is almost like the "Icey Hot" that is more costly!   ;)
