IceKittyNM and others, I did the exact same thing.  We've had issues with credit cards in the past, and our company told us that people sit at the computer and punch in combinations of numbers until they hit one that works.  I feel like if I give the routing number of my bank, and I do use a smaller bank, they have a leg up on the guessing game.  I hate to pass up the reward, but it's not feeling right to me to participate.

I use a smaller bank too, and I x'd out of the survey when it asked for the routing number. I was really disappointed because that $.50 sounded good to me but I don't care how big or small a bank is, I feel all a person has to do if they want to hack anyone's account is use the routing number and punch in some numbers until they hit bingo! No thanks. Every penny counts with me and I can't afford to lose a cent.

I completed it. Easy 50 cents, and I'm not paranoid. No way to track down my bank account with just a routing number.

I was gonna but maybe wasn't able in my state or its full but I wouldn't be fearful of entering your routing number if that's all they ask. Those are bank specific and can be found easily.

the routing number has no personal info attached to it... if you're really concerned about identity theft then you shouldn't write checks for anything cuz anyone with your check has the routing number and account number and those you do need for identity theft... in other words, your fears are misguided but I understand where they come from

I completed the survey too. I just did not get why it was asking for a routing number. At least it did not ask for my account since if it did, I would have refused it But I completed this survey and was credited.

It does not matter if you give your bank routing number.  It has nothing to do with your account.  Everyone at your bank has the same routing number.
The routing number does however give SOME information to them, IE which state your account was started in, but otherwise has no information indentifying you.  You can go to most banks websites and get the list of routing numbers they use.
Whether your routing number reveals which state you opened your account in or not totally depends on the bank, its policies, and (most often) its history of mergers/buyouts.  Routing numbers are issued on a federal level and banks can and usually do use a single routing number in many states.

While I don't want to pressure anyone into doing anything they're uncomfortable with -- routing numbers are public record.  Here is a text file listing of *all* routing numbers, updated regularly by the Federal Reserve Board:
http://www.fededirectory.frb.org/fpddir.txt
So providing it is not going to reveal anything that's "private" in any sense of the word -- particularly since the survey itself doesn't ask for anything more personally identifying than your state of residence.

Anyone can run a quick internet search & find out the routing number for any bank, it's public knowledge & easily accessible.

i did the survey and completed it i was also leery about giving the routing number however when i found out you could google your bank online and find the routing numbers basically plastered everywhere and the fact that it cant compromise your account i was fine with it.  very quick and easy survey for 50cents

I did complete this one the other day as well. I was hesitant about the routing number but figured the routing number identifies the bank, not any personal info so I did it. I figure if it asked for any specific account info I would exit the survey right away but it never asked for any.

I completed this survey, but I was going to end it when they asked for my banks routing number. I thought that they were going to ask me for my account number after that.

I left it cause I couldn't find my routing number. I only use a card and no checks.
