Gluten-free
« on: March 10, 2014, 09:11:59 pm »
I recently learned that I'm allergic to wheat.  I also believe I need to avoid consuming barley and rye, as well.  This means, it would be in my best interest to follow a gluten-free diet.  I also like eating out where I allow someone else to cook for me.

Here's the question.

Do you know of any restaurants or eating establishments that offer gluten-free items on their menu?

I just learned that Dominoes has a gluten-free crust if you want to build your own pizza.  I also understand that Dennys has gluten-free items on their menu.  Is that true?

Any other places that may or may not be national franchises?

Have a great day!

My mother eat's gluten free.  She was diagnosed with Celiacs about 10 years ago while visiting family and friends in Germany.  She was extremely malnourished most her life due to the gluten attacking her small intesting.  Being German... there's a lot of schnitzel to be eaten along with dumplings and such.  She eats at home 99% of the time.  Gluten can be snuck into condiments so easily the risk of eating something she shouldn't just isn't worth it.  I would recommend you get cookbooks... ie: Elizabeth Hasselbeck has a couple regarding her battle with Celiacs and although extreme the steps she takes are life saving.  Good Luck

There are a lot of restaurants that now offer gluten free entries.  I would check their website before I went to make sure that they have them and what your choices would be.  I think you would be surprised at all the choices available now.

I have seen a lot of restaurants claiming gluten free foods but I am not really sure how much I trust their claims! :)

I see it as simpler than finding gluten free restaurants.  You just need to find organic restaurants.  It really goes so much further than gluten being the problem.  We are all allergic to a lot more than we realize.
