I hear you but to use the word "appalling" as  to your one sibling I feel is a bit strong. I only say this because I have known a number of people who have had difficulty getting pregnant, or have had one child and then complications. For instance, my sister had one son and then as a result of the pregnancy, she got an overactive thyroid gland and had to undergo 2 years of treatment. She then got pregnant again, but miscarried, and then got the same overactive thyroid problem again. This time she opted for a more aggressive treatment ie. radiation therapy. So 6 years after her first son was born, she had a second son and whilst the world doesn't know all of the complicaitons she had between children, you might think why'd she wait so long to have a second baby! I' m sure  you didn't mean any harm but you don't realize what issues couples have which may or may not determine when their next baby arrives.

I have one older brother. I love him very much. He is such an amazing person and I am so glad not to be an only child. But I don't think I would have wanted more siblings.

I have 2 brothers and 5 sisters. We are not seeing each other very often now that most of us have our own family. But it's always nice when we get together sometimes.

Besides myself (I am 55), I have a sister that is 5 years my junior (50), a sister that is 6 years my junior (49), a brother that is 10 years my junior (45) and my youngest sister is 12 years my junior at 42.  :

I am the youngest of seven kids in my family. 

I learned a whole lot, though, when I made a friend in school who was one of 14 kids in her family and when I used to go to her house, I noticed it was a five bedroom home and they made it work!  Wow, talk about going home with a different attitude and grateful for what I had.

I have 3 siblings.  I am the oldest of four.  I am blessed with a sister and two younger brothers. I am 36.  My sister is 33, my brother is 31, and my youngest brother is 29.

If you think it is appalling to GAIN a sibling, you don't know what appalling is until you LOSE that sibling. I lost my only sister to cancer many years ago and it still hurts.

I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters. I'm the next to the youngest.

I have one brother and one sister both of whom have big problems so unfortunately I have not seen either of them since our mom passed away three years ago.  It is sad but both have drug problems that I can't deal with.......so I try to be thankful for the family members I can associate with.
