We cut off our Directv which had just gone up to $100 a month and got Netflix for less than $10 a month and we watch it thru my Wii.  We bought a digital antenna at Walmart for $34 so we can watch our local channels with it at no monthly charge.  Our hardline runs about $60-65 a month but I bought a Straight Talk thing to replace the AT&T hardline and it will only be $15 month for the Straight Talk and there's no committment.  I just haven't gotten it switched yet but I've heard a lot of good things about it.

Make a quadruple batch of a casserole. Casseroles are nice, easy dishes to prepare and the next time you make a casserole make four batches of it and put the other three in the freezer. Then the next time you need a quick meal for the family just grab one of those batches and just heat it up – easy as can be. Even better doing this allows you to buy the ingredients in bulk, making each casserole cheaper than it would be ordinarily – and far, far cheaper than eating out or trying a prepackaged meal.
Also some other meals can be frozen as well like spaghetti, pancakes, waffles, ect... :cat:

Cut back on cell phone expenses and also run the water heater only part time, as it is a huge energy hog.

List all of your expenses.  You'll be amazed how much money you're wasting!

get rid of wife
thats horrible to get rid of your wife or a wife or any wife at all. First off how would that cut or get rid of expenses ??? ex-specially when both husband & wife is a team together. Now if the wife is appeared to be not working as a partner in the relationship then give her the boot out the door (& same if the roles are reversed) because relationships are not one sided. Im not saying all relationships is worng but to share responsibilities is 1 of the key factors in a any situation and less costly to share. Now not everyone is made as marriage material (& thats the truth) but you must have a vital reason to leave your partner other then expenses NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

Thanks for some great ideas.  Just moved into an all electric apartment.  GGeezzzzzzzzzzz the bill is outrageous.   I did not know you could turn off the breaker to the hot water that is great.  My water gets way to hot and no way to adjust it.

your very much welcome theres alot of ways to cut the electric to lessen or even get rid the bill. You can put a timer to shut off the water heater (also other electrical devices) at certain times within the 24 hour day when your not using hot water, a magnetic electric generator can be very effective & cheaper then solor panels, energy saving light bulbs ect.ect...
Look into magnetic electric generator (a very small one can be made out of legos) :cat:

Make your own beer or wine. If you enjoy an occasional drink, this is a great way to enjoy some of the beverages that you love at a very cheap price. You can easily make five gallons of beer or wine at once and it doesn’t take that long, either, once you have the basic ingredients. Even better, it’s a great activity to do with friends – you buy the equipment, they bring the juice and you both get a few bottles of delicious homemade wine out of the deal. A nice entertainment, plus some free beverages – that’s a great frugal deal. :cat:

I stay in, or leave my cards and check books home....don't go in stores,....call the Insurance company and see if you have to best rate, don't eat out.....threaten to leave your current internet provider if you bundle tell them you have been offered a better deal and see if they will give you a discount.....

I've been thinking about getting Hulu when we move in a couple of months, a guy a computer seminar I attended recently was saying they have up to date sitcoms.

That works.  I leave my receipts on the side of my driver door. If I see too many take out receipts that means I'm eating out too much. Since I've been doing this I noticed I haven't been eating out as much.

I find that if I write down everything that I am spending money on I end up spending less money.

Buy video games that have a lot of replay value – and don’t acquire new ones until you’ve mastered what you have. Good targets include puzzle games and long, involved quest games – they maximize the value of your gaming dollar. Also theres plenty of free to play online games & even browser based games of every type and MMORPGs (or MMO or MMOFPS or MMOTPS just MMOs in general) are the best reply value i ever came across (if a MMO is subscription based theres always private servers thats free to play such as Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn is a subscription but theres a private server called The Seventh Umbral) & if you don't know what is a private server is heres the basic explanation that i can give:
An emulation of a game itself (aka copied) but when made the game itself will be the same version as when created also as long as the private server dose not profit from the original game creators own design the copywrite law is null invoid. :cat:
