Problems with Hewlet Packard?
« on: February 20, 2014, 06:38:22 am »
We recently bought a HP computer for my daughter. She used it for 5 days when the motherboard fried. It has been 6 weeks of being on hold for hours, endless phone calls and emails and still no new computer. Everyone there passes the buck from one department to the other. They offered us one new computer then all of a sudden that computer is no longer being made and so on. Anyone else have any issue like this and have any advice? :P :bad: :(

Computers (mostly laptops) starts to fail after 3 or more years or usage... It due to overheating since electronics gets the jolt of power every time you use it (think of power the light bulb on and off, it will die faster then leaving the light bulb on)

Anywho if I were you, since phone calls and emails don't work I would go the an authorized HP service center in person... If your computer is still under warranty (usually 1 year) and you have the receipt of purchase you can fight them over it...Remember it's limited warranty so I am unsure it will fix certain hardware issue).  Since it's a mobo problem, your original computer is good as dead... You probably get a refurbished laptop or a computer tht is similar to your computer brand.. Alyways fight for a new computer (never refurbished)

I had an HP for about three years.  I had bought a 2-year service warranty, so it died after the two years was up.  It did the "black screen" thing.  I took it to a local repair shop that I trust, and they told me it could not be fixed.  They also told me HP has had lots of problems.  My solution - I am not buying another HP.

I have had several HP computers and printers at home and on jobs.  I have had very few problems with them, and  when I did they were always taken care of quickly.  HP is rated #1 in consumer satisfaction and in being user friendly.  But like anything else, sometimes you get a lemon.  I am surprised you are having so much trouble with customer service.

I have had an HP computer that I bought from Office Depot.  I had McAfee put on there as security and it caused me all kinds of headaches.   I awakened one morning to not being able to connect to the Internet at all.  I took it back to Office Depot and even they could not fix it.  My hubby paid $155 to have it fixed by a company that does repairs and I got reports from the company we took it to that I had 117 virus-related problems.  Then I received a call that something else was wrong.  I have had a second HP computer to do the blackface thing.  My husband took it to a man in our area and was able to have it fixed for $60.  They are not a reputable company when it comes to their computers. I wanted a Dell computer when I ordered the 2nd computer through a company I had a membership with and, when I received it, it was another HP.  I gave it to my hubby, since he had paid to have the 2nd one fixed.  I hope your problem gets resolved. ??? ??? ??? :( :rainbow:

I have an HP I have had for about 6 years with no problems we can not fix our self.  We do not down load tool bars of any kind. and we run C cleaner a couple of times a day and that seems to help. good luck getting it fixed.

Well.. I'm not sure i can give you any advice you already know... But if you do have a pink's nearby.. I would suggest you take it to them.. They usually will sell you a labtop or computer if you bring one in and trade it off they will either fix it..and sell and just trade yours out with theirs or if it's unfixable they will give you credit enough were your not paying for a entire new one.. Although at pinks it's pretty cheap in itself but that's if you have the money.. because it can cost anywhere from $200-$400 depending on what all you want on the computer because they pretty much customize them right there.. (when i say customize i don't mean build your own computer.. I actually mean install like windows 8, windows xp, whatever you want, then microsoft or whatever.. Although you can do alot of this yourself.. Sometimes buying the cd's can be costly) <-- at least my pink's down here does this.. So i would think they all do.. I could be wrong.. Could always call them before you go wasting gas down there.. I am not sure if Hp actually one of the brands that overheat pretty quickly but there is a brand out there that has a overheating problem... I am not to informed on that tho.. It's just heresay because i don't know if it's factual.. The customer service you have to come to expect.. People are being replaced by machines now adays.. and alot don't have the knowledge to actually help you which is why there are so many departments.. I Don't understand sometimes why they can't just have one person knowledgeable about all departments answering the phones... Sure would be alot easier..
