New e-mail scam
« on: January 22, 2014, 02:43:54 pm »
I like to order from Wal-Mart online then pick up the items at the store.  The selection is greater than what my small store carries and I'm guaranteed the item is available for me.  I do not even give them a mailing or street address since I don't like delivery fees.  The last time I ordered anything was several months ago.  So it was puzzling to get an e-mail from "Walmart" telling me that my order could not be delivered because my address was unintelligible so I should click on the link to put my address into their form.  ??? It was spooky, but there were so many things wrong with it:  no hyphen in Wal-mart, no logo, no outstanding order, all their tracking efforts, etc.  Needless to say the message went into my spam folder and deleted.

Do NOT fall for this.  :angry7: :bs:

Thanks for the warning!  It's a crying shame we all have to be so watchful for scams, viruses, etc.!!

There is no hyphen in Walmart  on their website.  And I am pretty sure you have to give them an address when you set your account up even if it IS site to store.  Don't know if what you saw was a scam but it could have also been legit.  And don't you have to have an account to order anything no matter how it is shipped?  I'd rather if I order online just pay shipping and have it delivered to my house as to have to go to Walmart and stand in line.  But lately UPS and FedEx just delivers it to the post office and I still have to go stand in line to pick it up. :(

We just got a warning at work that there's also a scam email regarding Delta Airline Tickets as well.  The email has a zip file and if you open it, it downloads a virus.  If you get an email regarding Delta Airline Tickets, delete it immediately.

If you are flying Delta, best to log onto whatever site you ordered the tickets on to get your confirmation to be safe.

I got an email like that around Christmas. It was very strange since I didn't have an order with Walmart. It was an express delivery failure.  ??? I ignored it, but thank you for bringing it to light. It's just another way for someone to steal identities.

It seems like you can go anywhere or do anything without having to worry about if your information is going to fall into the wrong hands.  If crooks spent half as much time applying themselves at a real job they could be rich that way.

Why do people do crap like this?  I mean the only people they are hurting is people who are struggling anyways.  I don't know about everyone on this site but I can't afford much I got fired and have no money comming in these type of people just *bleep* me off.

:( Ya, it's sad that people go to all length on the computer. When it first started I and many of my friends thought it was suppose to be safe to search on any link, guess not
