I started out being a Spanish major because a significant other suggested it, and I liked Spanish anyway.  :-\

I ended up being a Liberal Studies major and receiving my bachelor's in that. Do you want fries with that?  ::) They don't even have that particular major anymore at the university I attended.

I wish I had just taken English as my major. It's really my strength.

It's okay to be undecided, explore your options, volunteer, and do a couple internships to see what interest you. I'm a civil engineering major, because I love to draw and design  things. Also, because I enjoyed playing with Legos when I was younger, building cities.

I'm majoring in Early Childhood Education. I've always liked kids and have always wanted to be a teacher. I have about two more semesters to go to complete my bachelors and I'm currently working on my minor.

I was a Computer Networking major.  I, unfortunately, did not follow up after college and I am not currently working in that field.  My advice, find something you like to do and stick with it.  If you do anything long enough it is bound to pay off.

Thank you. :) I most definitely would like to do something i enjoy doing.

My major was philosophy, because it came very easily to me. I even went on to get a Ph.D. in it. But I highly recommend that you not just select something that comes easily to you. Also make sure it is something you will be able to find work in later on. I always had a very difficult time finding work with an advanced degree in philosophy. My daughters have masters in business and engineering and they have no trouble at all finding high paying jobs.
:dog:

Aghhhh!! Engineering is terribly hard. :) Kudos to both your daughters :D

I was a physics and applied mathematics double major.  Originally it was just physics, because I was/am always curious about how things work...plus I wanted to be a mission specialist astronaut.  My eye sight was too bad to be a pilot, but the science route was open.  I ended up picking up the math major because I was taking all the math elective courses because I simply like math, and only needed 2 advanced courses to get the degree.

About 10 years after graduation, I found myself in computer programming with our contract coming up for renewal.  I went back and picked up a computer science degree so I would be more marketable in the field should we have lost the contract (at the time, to get a job in the field required a degree or minimum 10 years in the field, which I only had 5 at the time...).  Computers/programming was always a hobby of mine since my dad got our family a Commadore 64 when I was a kid.  Was programming it within a week.  :D

That's so cool. :) I wished I would've had the chance to see and do more things as a kid to know my likes and dislikes :)

My Major in college was a Bachelors of Science in Business Infromation Systems and a minor in History and Meterology.  When I graduated I was the first student to complete the Bachelors of Science and my good friends from college were the first to complete the Bacheors of Arts in Business Information Systems and Bachelors of Comunity Business Information Systems.

:) Congrats. That sounds awesome to be the first :D

I'm a Language Studies major with a focus in Japanese :) I had tons of trouble choosing my major too because my parents kept telling me that I needed a major that would get me a high-paying job in the future. But in the end, I picked Language Studies because that's what I was interested in.

So you should pick something you're interested in and just study it. It'll make your life a lot easier and you'll do A LOT better (in terms of grades) if you study something you enjoy.

Ughhh, I understand. My parents do the same to me. But I really just can't see myself as a doctor or lawyer  etc... xD LOL :) And i do realize its easier when you take courses you have an interest in. I failed horribly taking sciences last quarter because Im so weak in it.

Yeah, I am planning to continue exploring. I thought I was set on Clinical Nutrition and Public Health, but unfortunately I'm not strong enough in the sciences to be able to enjoy actually being those majors.
Thank You :D

That's cool! :) I always wanted to try it, but I thought about it and..

My timidness just doesn't seem to fit with Criminal Justice

I got a degree (just an associates) in dietetics and nutrition. I was planning on getting my bachelor's in science to fast track into becoming a dietician so I had to take extra classes like chemistry  :confused1: , microbiology and college algebra.I was taking classes with nursing students. I really wanted to become a dietician because I could help people and I was inspired by other dieticians I worked with. But I never did get my B.S. Where I live it's flooded with college graduates (I live near Gainesville Florida) and it's hard to find a job in a niche profession. I was working as a dietary manager (what I didn't to school for). It was very frustrating to graduate and not be able to find a job. And the funny part is the community college I got my degree from doesn't offer the program anymore. Choose your major carefully and good luck.
