I understand! I had to attend one with my husband who has lung cancer and other respiratory problems. He wanted to quit halfway through it and I had to coach him through to finish it. I am glad that the hours between 3-5 AM are ion the past for me.

It is hard to get to sleep during those. I'm sure they will figure it out.

Sounds interesting, what are the requirements to do that research? And do they pay you?  ???

I had to do that once in a while for a slight health problem I have.
They could never find anything wrong. ......they stopped wasting my time and theirs.

I have done it several times for my sleep apnea and don't find it a big deal. The first time they came back in 2 hours and said I had it and started testing for the right pressure. It fixed the problem I had falling asleep at the wheel.

May I ask how you got involved with this sleep study? Was it for health purposes or research? Just curious because I have wanted to get one done for years because of my sleeping issues but have been told it is so expensive as insurances pay very little

My Kaiser insurance paid the whole thing. I got into it, because one day while driving to a clients office I went through a construction slowdown and woke up with an airbag in my face. After I watched them cart the lady driving the car in front of me off in an ambulance, I vowed to do something quick.

So I went to the Kaiser office and told them I had given instructions to my wife that if anything happened to me while driving, to sue Kaiser.

They had me in the sleep study the next night and I had a CPAP machine 2 days later. They paid 80% of the machine cost.

I've been there...done that.  I couldn't sleep unless everything was perfect in my inner world and outer world which meant...I couldn't sleep.  To think that I might be able to sleep with all the stuff taped to me was also an absolute joke.  I was finally able to rest enough to determine that I stopped breathing an average of 21 times per hour.

I tried the CPAP machine because I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea.  Having a CPAP mask strapped to my face was like looking at Darth Vader in the mirror before I laid down to go to bed.  The mask was restricting enough that I basically laid there for a certain length of time before ripping it off each night.  About a year ago I had a tonsillectomy and I'm sleeping better, now (without CPAP).  If someone tells you that you need CPAP for the rest of your life, they might be wrong.  Good luck with whatever.

Have a great day!

My husband took the study mainly because he snores real loud and one night I woke up and he had stopped
breathing for a few seconds He took the test and found he has sleep apnea  he wears the mask and sieeps
much better :notworthy:

I did that one time too and boy I will never ever do that again. I did the study because my ENT doctor was not listening
to me and thought I was talking about something else. I still have the same problem that I went to him to begin with and I did this study like 10 years ago. What a waste. :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead:
