Business Card Transcription
« on: December 06, 2013, 05:32:02 am »
I there any way to know what our mistakes are after we transcribe business cards?
If I knew what my mistakes are, maybe I could correct them the next time. :)

I know they are particular, but I have yet to see what mistakes I made either.  I know that it may be timely, but I just won 1st place in Business Card Transcription and was awarded $4.00.  I now have $23.15, and it is not the end of December yet.   I may succeed this time in actually making $60.00 as my cashout goal.   :highfive: :highfive:

Sadly that bonus was issue erroneously... it's been removed and credited to the member who actually had #1 (they did several times more fields than you).  I'm so sorry for the mistake.  You can see the correct standings here: http://www.fusioncash.net/forum.php?topic=60649

I really wish they could show us our mistakes. Not sure if I'm doing some of the fields right.

And sorry msmoneybags48 :(

There is no way to tell what your mistakes are in the business card transcription task and I agree, there should be. It is frustrating not to get credited for fields you filled in and then not find out why so you can do the right thing the next time around. It's kind of a crap shoot what you get credited for, it seems like.  >:(

The only thing I'm wondering about is if I'm putting in the mailing address correctly. I don't know how to put it. Like put it in just all one thing with no commas, put in commas, or separate it with the enter button. I've done all 3 but it's hard to know which one is correct. How does everyone else do it?

I, too, wish we could know our mistakes. Some of these cards come up over and over again and it's such a pain to enter info not knowing what's incorrect. It gets a wee bit boring to see the same cards all the time...and then you don't know what errors you made on which card either, because the checking is behind the entries.

I spent a lot of time trying to do "perfect" entries (exactly how the info is on the card) but the incorrect entries keep building up. Is it the way fields are entered? Is it the way they are checked?  The first 2 cards of the day usually have just 0 to 2 entries wrong out of 30, but before you know it, those entries build up to 10, then 20, then 30, etc. The more cards you do, the more incorrect answers you get.

I really think the "checking" end of it is messed up. Who "checks" these cards and decides what's right or wrong, anyway?

I've noticed that too. I mean about the same business cards coming up. Maybe they're trying to give you a chance to fix mistakes? Instead of having a set way to put things in like addresses I just started doing everything how it is on the card. It's easier that way but I still wind up with mistakes.

I have trouble with the address too, but it keeps coming back and then you try it another way then it comes back but I do not mind I like doing them. I wish there was a way to know your mistakes.

To the left of the spots where you type, there is a question mark icon. Clicking that will pop up a detailed explanation of what they're looking for.

In general you just need to type it exactly as it appears on the card.

I have requested for them to add some more feedback about accepted/denied answers, so hopefully that will also improve soon.

I am also getting very frustrated by the "incorrect" answers and not knowing what they are. I have done thousands of entries and it seems as though I get credit one time for an answer but when the same card comes back and I put that same answer, I don't get credit.

My biggest issues seem to be with the Department entry and the Website. In regard to the URL, if the http:// does not appear on the card are we suppose to put it in the transcription? Also, the information (?) next to the Department field is not clear to me. When I enter it as they ask, I do not receive credit.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out with these issues.

There has been no work since early yesterday and even then, there wasn't much. I've checked several times but still nothing. It must be a popular task for the work to keep running out. We just have to be patient.  I'm still waiting for some clarification on how to enter some of the information to improve my accuracy.
