I did some of these today. I have a couple questions.
1. "Correct" answers. If you follow the directions, how can you have an incorrect answer?
2. If any already filled in info is wrong or there is a typo, does it count against you? After all, you are unable to change it. If it counts against you, I don't think that's fair, do you?
3. What does it mean by "Rank?" Mine kept changing.
Thanks for the answers.
1) If you make a typographical error in your entry, or transpose a digit in the phone number - stuff like that would be marked as an incorrect answer. Each card is transcribed by multiple people so errors like that can be caught. It usually gets confirmed/marked incorrect within a few minutes.
2) Since typos get caught and corrected by the system you needn't worry about this. It wouldn't be "held against you" except that you would not get credited for that particular field if you made a typo. In any case your stats in the panel (correct answers, entries done) get transferred to FC and reset to zero at 8am Pacific / 11am Eastern each day.
3) The rank can be a bit confusing because there's actually three different ones. On the main work page where you transcribe cards, there is a rank in the header. That rank is how you stack up against all other FC members working on cards
that day since 8am. Then, if you click "Finish", a page pops up with two additional ranks: they are your
monthly rank against all other FC members for both "correct answers" and "entries done".
Does this task count toward the task leaderboard? It seems like it's not reflected in my task total $ on the right of the screen.
It does not, but if we can bump up participation there's a good chance for an even better leaderboard promo, specific to the business card transcription task (in addition to the existing one for Crowdflower tasks). I also edited the Crowdflower tasks page to make it clear that the leaderboard is only for Crowdflower tasks.
You'll earn 1¢ for every ten correct fields you transcribe. So if you enter 30 correct fields you earn $0.03
I was wondering when we get the credits?
8am Pacific / 11am Eastern each day, 7 days a week. If you transcribe 10 fields at 7:59am your credit time will be just a few minutes. On the other hand, if you transcribe 10 fields at 8:05am, your credit time will be 23 hours and 55 minutes. If you scroll down to the bottom of the transcription page, you will see a countdown until the next reset/credit.
Great questions, everyone. As an aside, we are aware that some of the interface and instructions texts need some polishing and checking, and we are working with the task provider towards that end. We're also hoping to get faster crediting (hopefully instant) at some point in the future. Achieving these things is out of our hands so we ask for your patience as we make the most of this new & unique opportunity.
