why is it that people don't read as much as they use to? just because of this digital era?

I think people read more because of the digital era.  I think more people read ebooks than ever read real books.  I could be wrong though.

i love to read books, I place myself in the story. it is better than watching movies. my issue is I don't have room for the many books I have.

I love reading also but sometimes want to just watch a documentary about something instead of reading about it. just finished Steinbeck have to recommend Somerset Maugham kind of slow but excellent writer.

I like to read hardcover and paperback books. Reading from a computer screen wears out my eyes.

I used to love to read when I was a kid in school but as I've gotten older I don't read books as much as I get easily distracted and forget what I was reading.  I would rather watch a movie or a TV show.

I think people do read as much as they did, even if it is in digital form. As a matter of fact, I think the digital form created more readers then before. I still read paper books but I am going to digitize them one by one. I need the room and cannot stand the clutter anymore.

I read everyday. I have always loved to read but I have to say that when I worked I didn't have much time to read even though I love it. I stuck to magazines now and then because I could read a short article and then leave it for a long time and it didn't matter. So I would say that time is the main problem for most people.

i love to read and it has to be a book and not a stupid kindle.  when you use a kindle you dont get the same enjoyment as the turning of a page or saving your spot in your favorite book.  my husband always gives me crap because my entire christmas list is always books and dvds and nothing else.

Ever since I got a smart phone, I've slowly been reading e-books instead of paper ones. I just like the convenience of always having a book with me wherever I go. If I'm waiting in line somewhere, I can just open up my phone and continue reading where I left off. I know I'm going through books much more quickly than I had in the past. With paper books, I would usually only read in bed before I went to sleep, but now I can read it anywhere. For example, at the beginning of the summer, I saw an ad for the City of Bones and saw that this was a movie adapted from a fantasy novel. Since I like to read the books before watching the movies, while I was still in the theater, I downloaded not only that book, but all of the rest in the series (I actually d/l'd an omnibus that contained I think 6 novels in the series). At the time I wasn't sure how far I'd get through the series before the movie came out, but when the movie did arrive in September, I had not only read that entire omnibus, but I had also downloaded and had started to read the prequel trilogy. Had I just been reading the paper books, I think I would have been closer to having read only the first 2 books in the series.

I found a great way to keep myself reading regularly: I joined a book club. That gives you a definite date by which you have to have read the book plus it is a lot of fun discussing the book after you read it with other people.

That shouldn't be an excuse. There are even more ways to read.
I love reading. i still read paper books but I have upgraded to e-books and audiobooks.
