layoffs
« on: October 28, 2013, 04:46:23 pm »
My mom has worked in retail for a while now and every store that she has worked in has closed. Now Biglots is closing in January where my mom works. Do anyone have any suggestions on what type of job she should consider next she is 62?

I'm very sorry I know what that is like. Several years ago I was laid off serveral times and finally decided to  work for myself.
I wish I had an answer for your mother. I do know that things have a way of working out. I will keep her in my prayers  :peace:

Try checking with the county you live in. They have jobs programs for people in her age group. Don't pay real well but they will keep you employed part time while you look for something better.  Sounds like she would be a good candidate for customer service type positions.

I feel for her.  So many companies, too, are reducing their workers and/or hours, because of this healthcare issue, so that makes it harder to find a job.  Hopefully, there will be something available for her - there have been some great suggestions already posted.  I wish her the very best.

If I were her I'd apply for some online customer service jobs.  They are legit and some even offer benefits.  Some companies are Liveops, Alpine Access,  American Airlines (only certain areas), Arise, West at Home, Working Solutions.  Ratracerebellion.com has lots of listings for these types of jobs.
